The Next Step! A Campaign to Strengthen Manchester College

Wine Recital Hall

Norman and Grace Wine Recital Hall is an addition to the campus and to The Next Step! The original goal to enhance liberal arts at Manchester College grew into a center for celebrating the fine arts – a $1.3 million renovation. Stadium seating, enhanced lighting, sound and recording systems, a renovated stage and handicap-accessible seating provide inviting opportunities for student performers, community events and conferences.

Link Gallery, an engaging exhibit area that wraps around Wine Recital Hall, honors Trustee Marsha Palmer '68 Link and her husband, Bill, for their major contribution. A significant gift by the Speicher Foundation commemorates Genita B. Speicher of the music faculty (1947-77).

Homecoming alumni helped dedicate the recital hall on Oct. 9, 2004, in recognition of Norman Wine '23 and his wife, Grace, as a gift from their daughter, Madonna Wine '46 Goss. Fittingly, Norman Wine, as chair of the Board of Trustees, led the 1954 dedication of the Otho Winger Memorial Building, the original structure that houses Wine Recital Hall.
