The purpose of the Office of Human Resources is to establish and administer effective programs to recruit, employ, develop, reward and retain qualified employees in support of the College's mission.
A primary objective of Human Resources is to promote a productive, discrimination/harassment-free work environment by: assuring compliance with employment laws and government regulations; providing leadership and employee training; and developing appropriate personnel policies and procedures.
Human Resources also functions to: interpret College personnel policies and procedures for all employees; assist supervisors in becoming better leaders; facilitate professional development; manage and communicate the College's compensation and benefits programs; direct a performance management system that includes accurate job descriptions, timely feedback and effective performance evaluations for all employees; and promote a positive, caring work culture through mutual understanding and professional respect.
Finally, the Office of Human Resources is a place where employees may speak freely in confidence, find answers to employment-related questions and, when appropriate, seek mediation and/or other assistance with employment issues.
