This is a total of hours regardless of how many jobs a student holds.
These hour limits are College policy. However, for international students, this is also the limit set by the Federal government, according to the terms of the visas. Violating these limits may jeopardize visa status.
Working Over the Limits
Hours worked are monitored by the Office of Human Resources. Working over the limits will result in:
When Classes Are Not In Session

II. Semester/Holiday Break
*Exceeding these hours is a violation of the policy.
III. January Session
Students who are not enrolled in a January session class may work up to 8 hours per day, up to 40 hours from Saturday to Friday of each week, providing the supervisor approves of these hours.

-

Supervisor Exceptions
Due to the needs of the College, supervisors may occasionally have a need for additional student help. Supervisors must make every effort to fill this need by hiring temporary student help or by utilizing other staff. However, this is not always an option. Exceptions must be approved by Human Resources PRIOR to the event. Contact Anna Judy, x5559 if you feel you have a legitimate need for your student to work over these limits.
However, at no time may an international student work more than eight hours a day or more than the 20- and 40-hour limits. We do not want to put our international students in jeopardy of losing their visas.
