- $5.85 per hour through May 23rd (although summer positions may begin sooner).
- $6.55 per hour beginning May 24th
The federal minimum wage increases to $6.55 per hour on July 1, so pay will remain at $6.55 for student employees throughout the 2008-2009 academic year. Students are not eligible for holiday pay.
Summer Hours
Students are permitted to work no more than 40 hours from Saturday to Friday and no more than 8 hours per day – except with supervisor approval, to meet the work flow demands of the College. However, International students are never permitted to work over these limits.
Bonus Benefits
Students who work for Manchester College a minimum of 380 hours from May 19-August 22 are offered the following:
- A bonus of $.50 per hour up to $200, subject to all applicable payroll taxes, will be paid on September 30 to students who complete the 380 hours.

Students who do not work a minimum of 380 hours for the summer will be required to pay their entire summer housing charges.
Exceptions can be made for special circumstances. Bonus benefits are provided as incentives for students who complete summer employment. Students who leave prior to the end of summer, may not be eligible for the bonus benefits.

Supervisor Exceptions
Due to the needs of the College, supervisors may occasionally have a need for additional student help. Supervisors must make every effort to fill this need by hiring temporary student help or by utilizing other staff. However, this is not always an option. Exceptions must be approved by Human Resources PRIOR to the event. Contact Carrie Makin if you feel you have a legitimate need for your student to work over these limits.
However, at no time may an international student work more than eight hours a day or more than the 20- and 40-hour limits. We do not want to put our international students in jeopardy of losing their visas.
