Amnesty International (AI)

Amnesty International is a human rights organization that works to free prisoners of conscience (those imprisoned for their nonviolent struggles against injustice) around the globe. AI’s primary tool is letter-writing on behalf of prisoners of conscience. These letters help expose brutal actions such as the imprisonment, torture and murder of those struggling for peace and justice. Manchester College’s AI does more than write letters, however. Its activities include sponsoring speakers, coffeehouses, concerts, films and other forms of awareness raising. For more information, contact the Office of Student Activities (x5029).
