United Sexualities' Mission Statement

United Sexualities (U.S.) provides visibility and support for people of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, straight and ally community (LGBTIQQSA) by promoting educational opportunities for students, staff, faculty and parents; enhancing understanding and appreciation of the diversity of every individual; promoting inclusiveness through understanding of the LGBTIQQSA community and contributions of LGBTIQQSA members to the college community; increasing awareness of discrimination and harassment on the basis of perceived sexual orientation, gender identity or ally status; actively attempting to overcome the subtle and pervasive oppression and insensitivity towards the LGBTIQQSA community; facilitating a process that assures careful and thorough consideration by the college community of US recommendations; funding opportunities for US members and the college community to attend conferences and workshops related to LGBTIQQSA issues; providing access for students to specific individuals and forums (Safe Zones and people) for confidential discussion, support and resources; providing a place where any person can participate in meetings and events without fear of discrimination.
