Things are looking up for you!

Manchester ads hit the airwaves

If you've been watching TV on any network affiliate station in the Fort Wayne or South Bend areas lately, you've probably seen Manchester's new TV ads. "Things are looking up for you," they say. The 10 different spots are aimed at raising awareness about the great value of a Manchester education and some innovative solutions MC offers to help make college affordable.

One ad says, "In an independent study of 21 Indiana private colleges, Manchester students graduated with the lowest debt." Another says, "Based on tuition and fees, Manchester's scholarship program is the most generous of any private College in Indiana." Other ads tell of Manchester's new graduate programs and plans for the College of Pharmacy to open in 2012.

We know that there are many challenges to face to make a college education a reality academically and financially. That's why we want to let others know why Manchester is a good value and a great choice for both undergraduate and graduate students.

Watch Manchester's TV ads here.

Tips for mailing gift cards

Tips for Mailing Gift CardsGift cards make great gifts for college students. They allow for the recipient to get what he or she wants, and they're easy to mail. If you are mailing gift cards this year, our postmaster would like you to consider the following.

The safest way to send gift cards through the U.S. Postal Service is via Registered Mail. Items sent this way receive maximum security and can be insured for their full value against loss or damage. You can verify the date and time of delivery, as well as any delivery attempts.

Gift cards sent by Express Mail (which includes Express Mail insurance) or another class of mail with merchandise insurance are only protected for up to $15.

It's never a good idea to place a gift card in a regular envelope for mailing. Virtually all of the mail handled by the Postal Service is processed by machine, and regular envelopes do not hold up well with a rigid item inside. If you choose not to send your gift card by Registered Mail, take the extra time to place your gift cards in a small padded bag or a Priority envelope, available at your local Post Office, to help ensure that they arrive safely.

Check the terms of your gift card and keep your receipt. Many gift cards are replaceable by the issuer if lost or stolen.

File your FAFSA

Don't miss out on federal aid prepare to file your FAFSA

Manchester College does everything possible to make sure a Manchester education is within reach of students and their families. That's why 100 percent of our students receive financial aid. In 2009-2010, the average need-based financial aid package was $23,600. That's money students don't have to pay back!

Families are required to annually apply (or re-apply) for their federal student aid. The Manchester College deadline for submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the U.S. Department of Education is March 1. You'll need to include information from your 2010 taxes, but it's not too early to begin preparing your FAFSA now.

When filling out and submitting the form, designate Manchester College as your student's FAFSA recipient. The Manchester College institutional code is 001820.

You can file your 2011-2012 FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov. You'll be assigned a PIN number so you can check the status of your application later.
