Tara Vogel, RN, BSN
She is a 1981 graduate of the Community Hospital School of Nursing in Springfield, Ohio and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Saint Francis in 2007. Tara is an instructor/trainer in CPR, professional rescuing, community first aid and AED, as well as a certified first responder. Her nursing background is broad, ranging from high-tech critical care to teaching parenting classes. Tara is nearing completion of her master's degree in nursing. Tara enjoys walking, needlepoint and reading. She and her husband, Mike, live in North Manchester, and have four children.
Kelly Hippensteel joined Manchester College in January 2005. She had previously worked in human resources for five years and has an associate's degree in accounting. She is also the administrative assistant for Counseling Services.
Student Health Assistants Health Assistants work under the supervision of the director of health services and are considered part of the student development student staff. Health assistants are expected to live on campus and are expected to participate in a reasonable number of activities on campus. However, this position in health care should be considered the principle out-of-class activity and responsibility. Staff members are expected to maintain good academic standing and a standard of personal conduct commensurate with their responsibilities. A health assistant is on call from 5 p.m. until 8 a.m. on weekdays, and from 5 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Monday on the weekends, during which time they must remain on campus. Health assistants are required to understand, follow and sign this statement of confidentiality upon beginning employment with Manchester College Health Services:
I understand that in the course of my employment at Manchester College Health Services, I will be exposed to personal confidential medical information. I realize that this information has been recorded and obtained for the purpose of medical treatment of the patient and is strictly confidential. I shall use the information only in completion of my job responsibilities and will hold it in the most strict confidence. Under no circumstance will I release any information to an unauthorized person. Under no circumstance will I tamper with, alter or destroy confidential information from a medical record within the retention period. I understand that violation of this policy subjects termination of employment. Past Health Assistants - Where are they now?
Adrienne Numbers: is a senior majoring in athletic training and exercise science. She plans to attend graduate school and earn a doctorate in physical therapy. She hopes to serve as a physical therapist both domestically and internationally. She has a heart for the mission field and plans to explore this passion after schooling. Adrienne is involved in intramural sports, Relay for Life, FCA, MCATC, and SHAPE. Beyond campus activities, she enjoys exercising and being with family and friends. She is very open to get to know new people and wants to experience life to the fullest. Her favorite quote states, “It’s better to love and to lose then to never love at all.”
Erica Hedges: is a senior double majoring in athletic training and exercise science. She is president of Inter-Collegiate Ministries and is involved in several other activities, treasurer of Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Student Government Association, Sports, Health, And Physical Education (SHAPE); and the Manchester College Athletic Training Association. She is a goalkeeper on the soccer team and participates in many intramural opportunities. She spends her free time playing guitar, enjoying the outdoors, and volunteering in the community. She is planning on graduating in December and then obtaining a job as an athletic trainer.
Josh Bowling: is a junior chemistry major, biology minor from Richmond, IN. He hopes to attend medical school at Indiana University. On campus he is a member of the American Chemical Society, serving as the student SGA representative, and a regular participant in Relay for Life. In his free time he enjoys running, playing guitar, and reading.
Todd Byrket: is a sophomore majoring in biology-chemistry with a minor in psychology from Wakarusa, Indiana. Upon graduation, he plans to attend medical school and become a trauma surgeon. Todd is an active volunteer in his community. He enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with friends.
