Mentoring Support Group (MSG)
The Mentoring Support Group is a peer mentoring program that offers students of color a network of support and provides professional and social development opportunities throughout the year.
The MSG program builds upon three premises:
- A student's level of engagement with the College is related to past and perceived future life experiences;
- Ethnic identity development is an important component to a student's social and academic success and;
- Students who find social and academic success will most likely enjoy their college experiences.
These premises are the basis for this mentoring model. As a mentoring program, MSG offers African American
and Hispanic students a network of support that links their college experiences with future expectations. The components of the program include Mentoring Support Groups, Academic Enhancement Instructions and Ethnic Identity Development programming.
