Ft. Wayne Rescue Mission
“Providing, through the power of Jesus Christ, a home for the homeless,
food for the hungry, and hope for their future.”
The Ft. Wayne Rescue Mission is a program that caters to the homeless around Ft. Wayne. It is a men’s shelter that helps all who come to it, regardless of how he got into his situation. Based in a Christian atmosphere, they provide an emergency shelter, three meals a day, clothing and connections to what could possibly help the people that come to them get on their feet again, including learning centers, job applications, help with substance abuse, etc. They stress to each resident that they have a chance at a better future, no matter the circumstances of their past.
Volunteer Opportunities include:
- Serving Food: Help serve meals, which constitutes over 80% of what the Rescue Mission does. On a regular basis, they serve over 500 meals over three meals a day.
- Thrift Store Clerk: Work and regulate the thrift store on the Rescue Mission’s property that sells anything from clothes to furniture with all proceeds benefitting Mission’s programs.
- Tutoring: Help tutor the residents as they are in classes, with math, reading, grammar and anything else that may come up. Considered on a case by case basis.
Those interested in volunteering at the Learn More Center are expected to:
- Complete volunteer form
- Background check

Thrift Store Hours:
Thurs: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Fri: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sat: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Additional opportunities are based on case by case basis, and times and dates will be coordinated once commitment is sought.
