Timbercrest
Church of the Brethren Home, Inc.

The mission of Timbercrest is "a ministry of the [Church of the Brethren], providing independent, congregate, residential living and comprehensive persnal care and health care services to older adults."

Timbercrest is home to approximately 350 men and woman from many walks of live. In a very real sense, it is a living community. Most of our community consists of people who maintain their independence to a large degree. They are involved in the North Manchester community as volunteers, board members, supporters and concerned citizens. They are involved with each other ar Timbercrest socially, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically and occupationally.

Timbercrest offers many opportunities for volunteers - individuals and groups. There are one-on-one relationships that can be built with residents, group opportunities, hosting parties and events, outdoor work projects, etc. The possibilities are only limited by the volunteer's imaginations.

Volunteer Opportunities include:

• Hosting Activities: Host anything from a game night, party, health care activity or one-on-one-activities. Contact with the center to coordinate times and openings. (Great for larger groups!)

• Maintenance Work: Completing anything that needs to be done around the grounds, including cleaning, painting and even detailing vehicles.

• Health Care Assistant: Help with those residents who need continuous health care.
  

Those interested in volunteering at Peabody Retirement Community are expected to:

• Undergo a health screening, including a TB test
  
• Undergo an interview process
  
• Go through orientation if planning on volunteering more than ten hours
  
• Watch the informational videos on health care and residential rights
  

Important Information about the Opportunity:

Timbercrest, being a 24/7 care facility filled with diverse people, is willing to work times and topics with those willing to volunteer. They are more than interested in accommodating those volunteers that want to share their interests and strengths but may not know a good way in which to do it.

Hours:
A majority of the opportunities are on a case by case basis according to time, so contact with staff members is crucial in order to organize a time and place for opportunities.
