LOCAL VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES
The
Learn More Center has several
areas for volunteers this fall. We always need volunteer tutors and can
fit students in with our regular hours Monday from 9-5 p.m. or
9a.m.-7:30 p.m. Tue, Wed, & Thurs. Special volunteer events are this
Friday, Sep 7 at the literacy breakfast at First Brethren Church. We
need preparation help, wait staff, dishwashers, and clean up from 6-10
a.m. It would be great if we had someone to distribute posters around
campus this week, as well.
There
is also an opportunity to read to children at the Kid-O-Rama on
September 15 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Honeywell Center. The FIESTA
will be held on Sep 22 from 4-9 p.m. and we can use set up, help with
games, etc. during the event, and help with clean up.
Please
contact the LMC at 982-6138 or email Deb at
dblearnmore@mchsi.com for more information or to volunteer.
The
Town Life Center needs
student volunteers to clean out their basement – strong people would be
great! To volunteer, contact Jenae Renz at 982-6115.
The
Wabash Red Cross office has a
number of volunteer opportunities throughout the year! They are looking
for 1-2 students to serve on their advisory board (which meets once a
month for an hour) – great experience for social work or non-profit
management students. The Red Cross also needs volunteers for their
disaster relief team and emergency notification system to serve military
families. All volunteers will be trained and service can take place
right on campus. To find out more, contact Mitch Figert at
arcross@kconline.com.
