February DTC: Help the YMCA prepare for an important event; Saturday, February 21st; Wabash (transportation provided)
Ongoing Opportunities:
Indiana Reading Corps--tutor or read to children. Contact Carole Miller-Patrick for more information (CMMiller_manchester.edu@spartans.manchester.edu).
Learn More Center/Town Life Center--adult tutoring and other tasks. Contact Drema Drudge (982-6138 or drema@learnmorecenter.org).
Girl Scouts--lead or help with a troop. Contact Rachael Caslow (260-422-3417 ext. 149 or rachael.caslow@gsnim.org)
Junior Achievement--teach basic accounting lessons to elementary students. Contact Dawn Horan (dawn.horan@ja.org).
Firehouse--help paint and repair this social spot. Contact OVS.
Partners in Learning--help children in after-school homework program. Tuesday--elementary school; Contact Kristen Schneider (KMSchneider@spartans.manchester.edu). Wednesday--middle school; Contact Ryan Adams (RSAdams@spartans.manchester.edu).
ARC of Wabash--events for individuals with mental or physical disabilities. Contact Ryan Adams (RSAdams@spartans.manchester.edu).
Vernon Manor--give much needed attention and friendship to children with mental disabilities at this Wabash children's home. Contact Brooke Buzbee (260-563-8438).
Timbercrest/Peabody Retirement Communities--Adopt-a-grandparent, play cards, and visit at your convenience. Contact 982-2118 for Timbercrest or 982-8616 for Peabody.
Beaman Home--be women’s advocates, help with transportation, be child advocates, provide child care, help with fundraising, maintenance, special events, and facility needs. Contact OVS.
Food Pantry--shelf and sort food. Contact Rowena Greer (982-2325).
Habitat for Humanity--help build houses for families in-need; this year's Spring Break trip to Meridian Mississippi. Contact Brad Yoder (982-5366 or BLYoder@manchester.edu).
Big Brothers Big Sisters--be a mentor to a child and have a real impact on his or her life. Contact OVS.
On campus, we also have a few opportunities: Project Clean Plate, Knitting Baby Caps for Save the Children, Making Blankets for Project Linus, tutoring by homework hotline...Please contact OVS if you are interested in these projects.
