Green Fest is a festival that is co-sponsored by the Office of Volunteer Services and Residence Hall Association that promotes three things: Reducing, Recycling and Reusing. It will be held out on the mall by the chapel on April 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  If it rains the new site will be Garver lobby.

So what is exactly is going on in this event?  For the reduce portion OVS is planning to have students pledge green, to reduce the consumer items they use. They will have a table set up for students to pledge in the union as well as at they fest.

For recycling there will be a display table set up on how to properly dispose of items that can be recycled.

The reuse portion of Green Fest has a larger emphasis since it encompasses the entire town of North Manchester.  There will be a clothing drive, which will sell clothes donated from students to members of the town.

RHA is sponsoring a garage sale for students on the campus to sell items that they no longer need or want to others, but one thing you cannot sell is clothes because of the clothing drive.  Residents from North Manchester will be coming to possibly buy these items, so it is a good way to clean out your closet before you move out or graduate!

How does one get a table at this event?  You can either donate two articles of clothing for a half table or pay a fee of one dollar for a table space for the entire day.  Remember you can sell anything you want except clothes.

You get to keep what money you make from the sales that you make and can enjoy free refreshments while doing so.  The money made from people buying clothes at the drive and from the donations from the garage sale will be given to charity.

Also, there are going to be refreshments and food as well as corn hole available for students to play while they are checking out the attractions at Green Fest.

WBKE will be playing from the chapel speakers along with students playing some of their own music while walking around.  The Chet Outfitters will also have a stand from students to check out their goods.

So students of Manchester College remember to stop by Green Fest and check out what is going on April 19.
