Now that Spring Break is finally among us, students and faculty are becoming restless until the minute they have packed up their belongings and are off to wherever vacation has called them.
This beloved break is heard about for at least a month before it actually gets here. Everyone’s planning their trips, and hitting up the tanning salons so they don’t get sunburn after their first day in Florida, Cancun, Panama and other sunny spots that may be ventured to. There are also those who may go to colder spots, or even just stay close to home.

Indiana Reading Corps, Helping Children Love to Read

We all remember playing outside from sunup until sundown until we were called in for dinner. After eating a hearty meal we would spend a little time retelling all of our adventurous tales that had transpired during our time out of the house. Then as we snuggled beneath our covers and as our eyelids began to droop we would listen to the gentle and soothing tones of our parents reading our favorite bedtime story. Whether our story of choice was “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein or “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss, we all can look upon these moments with much fondness.

Diversity at Manchester College has grown tremendously over the years, especially 2008-2009, which brought in about forty minorities, the largest number ever at MC. It is therefore no surprise to note that with the diversity comes a variety of needs in terms of relating, sharing and learning.

However, there are those among us that do believe in ghosts and are convinced that the stories that surround Manchester College are very real.

Turkeys Run Amuck While MC Runners Train
MICHAEL STEINHOFER
Throughout history sports teams have had animals that have tagged along as mascots, good luck charms and even sometimes bad luck charms. The Tampa Bay Devil Rays have an actual Devil Ray, Los Angeles Angels have a “Rally Monkey,” the Dolphins had a Dolphin inside a tank at their stadium and the Manchester College Spartans cross country team has . . . turkeys?

MC Track and Field: It is More than Just Running
NATHAN DRISCOLL They are nimble and agile. They leap great heights and lengths and practically fly through the air. No, they are not superheroes; they are the Manchester College men’s and women’s track and field teams.

AMANDA FOUST
While members of the Manchester Symphony Orchestra (MSO) tuned their instruments, voices grew plentiful as an energetic crowd was seated in the Wabash Honeywell Center Sunday, March 15. The concert title, “Water,” is the third of the season’s theme, “MSO Goes Green.”

“Just when you think life can’t get any better, you find yourself in North Manchester, Indiana.”
These words were spoken with a big smile (and not so much as a drop of sarcasm) by singer/songwriter/guitarist Carrie Newcomer at the concert she gave last Thursday in Cordier Auditorium. During her visit, the students, faculty and staff of Manchester College (as well as members of the surrounding community) were gifted with her music, wisdom and guidance.
