Opportunities
Pathways offers three distinct programs that provide opportunities for students to reflect on faith, vocation and service. Each program will create a sacred space in which spiritual formation, connections with service organizations and personal growth can be achieved.

-
January Session Service: A 3-week service program allowing students to spend their January Session in a service organization in the United States. Three to five students will be placed in 2009 and 2010 and each will have the opportunity to choose where they would like to complete their experience. This new element to the Pathways program will provide students who may not otherwise be able to participate in the summer service portion of the program, with the opportunity to explore their vocational calling in relation to their faith in this short-term experience.
-
Summer Service: A 10-week summer program of service at agencies or organizations in the United States. All students, regardless of faith tradition, who are interested in exploring the theological roots of vocation are encouraged to apply. Ten students will be placed in summer service each year, complete with orientation and debriefing. As in the past, students will work in soup kitchens, homeless shelters and other service agencies in Texas, Massachusetts, California, Washington D.C. and many other locations. Some of the placement sites are provided through Brethren Volunteer Service others are made through contacts with Alumni and friends of the college.
-
Imagination Grants: Imagination Grants build on students’ summer service experiences by offering a progression in vocational exploration. Advanced students design their own projects in locations where they are unique (in race, language, age, etc.) and provide service without pay. Students must complete summer service in the Pathways program in order to apply. Imagination Grants are available to three students each year. In the past, students have served in India, New Zealand, Thailand, Tanzania, Ecuador and currently Africa. (Imagination grants will not be available after the summer of 2009)
