The
Safety Office has been made aware of a series of thefts within the
surrounding Town of North
Manchester.
The perpetrators are targeting unlocked vehicles, garages, sheds, etc.,
and taking miscellaneous items of value.
We also know that many members of the College community have
developed habits of leaving their vehicles unlocked, with valuables left in
plain view, including purses, wallets, cell phones, etc. Please understand that most thieves are
opportunists, who will take the path of least resistance, and your unlocked
vehicles are easy targets. Please
keep the following crime prevention tips in mind:
·
Park your vehicle in well-lighted areas,
and remove the keys.
·
Conceal your valuables – do not leave
them in plain view.
·
Do not let anyone see you securing
purses or others valuables in the trunk; valuables should be concealed
before reaching your destination.
·
Lock your doors – even when leaving for
just a few minutes; vehicles or rooms left unlocked will be their first
targets.
·
Keep your key with you at all times, and
don’t lend it to others.
·
Do not prop open exterior doors to
residence halls or other buildings.
·
Thievery occurs even in the safest
areas, and Manchester
College is no
exception.
·
Think safety – a safe campus is
everyone’s responsibility; if you notice a safety or security problem,
report it.
·
Report suspicious circumstances and
unusual incidents to the Safety Office, telephone extension 5999.
·
Become familiar with the location of the
campus emergency phones.
