Writing Consultants

Our student writing consultants are chosen on the basis of their success in English writing classes and ability to deal with people. They understand the importance of appropriate writing guidance, as well as good customer service. Writing consultants are always on duty when the Success Center is open, and are available to work with writers of all skill levels, on any type of writing project. You’ll recognize a consultant by his/her nametag—which are similar to those worn by student tutors, so be sure to check closely upon visiting the Success Center. Consultants work one-on-one with you to help you recognize areas in your writing that can be improved. Their job is not to proofread and edit your composition for you, but instead, to work side by side with you to optimize your grammar, syntax, structure and word choice.

Please be proactive in making appointments with writing consultants if you know you have a paper due next week. Consider that you may require more than one session with a consultant, and allow ample time. Those students who plan accordingly reap the rewards of a better composition and a higher grade. We hope to see you soon!
