Major and Minor Requirements

The courses in the Department of Biology at Manchester College are designed to give students a closer perspective on living things in a number of ways:

  • Provide knowledge of living things
  • Understand the organization of humans and maintaining healthy life
  • Prepare students to enter professional schools (medicine, veterinary, dental)
  • Prepare student to enter graduate research programs
  • Prepare students for teaching careers in biology

Majors

 

Manchester College offers a number of undergraduate programs leading to B.A. or B.S. degrees. These majors are each designed to provide an appropriate package of experiences for different career goals.

These are listed below and are linked to lists of the specific graduation requirements.

All Manchester College graduates must complete a Senior Comprehensive Experience requirement within their major prior to graduation.

Minor

In addition, the Department of Biology also offers a Biology minor which can provide a biological orientation to any other major at the college. This minor includes:

  • 24 credit hours
  • BIOL 107 and 109
  • 16 hours of electives in Biology
