Program Opportunities

  • Minor in TESOL

Overview

With a TESOL minor, you can teach English to speakers of other languages. A combined program of the Modern Languages and English departments, TESOL appeals to students from many majors and opens career doors that include teaching abroad. All TESOL minors complete a practicum as well as courses in TESOL theory and language acquisition.

Program Highlights

  • Graduates who can teach English abroad have many opportunities to experience different cultures, create lifetime memories, and make lifelong friends, all while developing their careers.
  • TESOL minors can help meet the nation’s growing demand for people trained to work with new learners in English.
  • The minor aligns with the standards for the Indiana license in English as a New Language, enhancing the skills and employability of MU teacher candidates.
