Sociology & Social Work:  Alumni

In the Spotlight:  Jaime Eller, Social Work, '01

Jaime '01 is a work camp coordinator with Brethren Volunteer Service in Elgin, Illinois. Simply, but with purpose, Jaime acts for change. Socially conscious, Jaime spent her social work practicum helping Bosnian, Burmese, and Vietnamese refugees adjust to living in the United States.

After graduation, she worked with mentally disabled women as an assistant house manager before volunteering with Brethren Volunteer Service.

Jaime believes Manchester's emphasis on accepting those of diverse backgrounds had a strong bearing on the career path she's chosen. Influenced, too, by many college friends who had international roommates, Jaime soon realized how much she enjoyed the interaction between cultures. By her senior year, she had invited five Japanese students to her parents' Florida home over vacations. Immersed in serving, Jaime lives out what she believes.
