The EARLY LEARNERS project proposes to improve readiness in preschoolers in Wabash County through a collaborative, research based emergent literacy program.  The EARLY LEARNERS project contains two major programs:

Education Alliance for Reading Literacy in the Young  

         Contains five areas of concentration:

1. provide research-based emergent literacy teaching strategies to employees of preschool/daycare centers.
2. provide research-based emergent literacy instruction to children in preschool/daycare centers.
3. provide literacy support and enrichment materials to preschool/daycare centers.
4. conduct research and evaluation of emergent literacy program.
5. develop and implement sustainable emergent literacy programs.

Literacy Education and Applied Research Network to Enhance Readiness for School

Co-host with Community Foundation of Wabash County and Purdue University Extension of Wabash County an EARLY LEARNERS Conference for all members ob the network.  The annual conference focuses on emergent literacy, school readiness and strengthening the network through person to person interaction.
