Manchester College prepares men and women for the profession of teaching. The Teacher Education program at Manchester embraces the College's liberal arts program, as well as the State of Indiana's requirements for licensing. At Manchester, students strive for excellence. Because of the rigorous program, Manchester is successful in producing effective educators for today's classrooms. Manchester is accredited by NCATE, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. A student in Manchester College's Teacher Education program can expect to become involved in the public schools as early as the first year. A typical teacher education major will have field experiences each year. During the last academic year, the 300 plus students enrolled in education classes had more than 350 student field experiences that totaled more than 27,000 hours of classroom experience. The Manchester College Teacher Education program is also known for high expectations in student teaching. Its graduates are highly regarded as indicated by a constant 90+ percent placement rate over the past five years. |
