Entrepreneurship Means Implementing Innovation at Manchester College!

The Johnston Entrepreneurship Program at Manchester College is about leveraging the very powerful tools of entrepreneurship across a global society.

More than 1,400 institutions of higher education offer at least one course in entrepreneurship. Many of these programs cover much the same ground. We train people to set their own innovation and change into motion. Only at Manchester can you earn the Certificate in Innovation. By taking two special courses in sequence, Entrepreneurial Thinking IDIV200 and Entrepreneurship Skills IDIV201, any student in any major will receive the Manchester College Certificate in Innovation. Our young entrepreneurs will be change makers.

Announcing the 2009 Manchester College Innovator of the Year!

She's an 84 year old Irish Catholic mother of eight. She founded and leads a religious order in San Diego, California. Pulitzer Prize winning journalists Mary Jordan and Kevin Sullivan of the Washington Post recorded her story in their book "The Prison Angel" What you may not know is that she designed and sewed her first religious habit then volunteered to serve at the infamous La Mesa Prison in Tijuana, Mexico. For 25 years she has slept in a cell at La Mesa where she cares for prisoners and their families.

Mother Antonia visits the Manchester College campus on Tuesday November 17 to accept her Innovator of the Year Award and address Manchester students and faculty.

The public is invited, but for those who can't come to campus, Mother Antonia's life story can be read in "The Prison Angel", available at the Manchester College Campus Store or in hardcover or Kindle at Amazon. More news >>

For Students - Entrepreneurship at Manchester College has its own triple bottom line:

1. Entrepreneurs change things.

2. Studying entrepreneurship at Manchester can change you.

3. You can change the world.

 

At Manchester College we claim that our approach to entrepreneurship provides a triple bottom line. What we're really talking about is significance. The Manchester College Mission Statement holds that we will graduate persons of "ability and conviction". Studying entrepreneurship at Manchester leads to the Manchester College Certificate in Innovation. Putting the Manchester College Certificate in Innovation to use in your life after college will help you become that person of ability and conviction who can change the world.

And, what do we mean with our light bulb slogan, "Think it, Plan it, Do it!"? Any student pursuing any major, or combination of major and minor, can study entrepreneurship here and receive the Manchester College Certificate in Innovation. The certificate prepares a Manchester Graduate to be a change maker in her or his career or life. If you receive the our Certificate in Innovation you will know how to find a critical problem, recognize the opportunity, craft an innovative solution and to manage the implementation process. That's what we mean by "Think it, Plan it, Do it!"
