Manchester University Athletic Training - Faculty/Staff/Medical Personnel
Manchester University has six certified athletic
trainers involved with athletic training education and
intercollegiate athletic coverage. Four hold
full-time faculty appointments, two hold adjunct faculty
appointments. Five other Certified Athletic Trainers aid in off campus educational opportunities for our students as Approved Clinical Instructors. Through Ortho Northeast of Fort
Wayne, orthopedic specialists and other medical professionals are involved in the education of Manchester's
athletic training majors as well.
Faculty/Athletic Training Staff
Jeffrey Beer, MA, ATC is in his seventh year at Manchester University. He serves as the undergraduaute program director of athletic training education, and assistant professor of Exercise and Sport Sciences. He served as head athletic trainer from 2007-09. Jeff earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training from Ball State University and a master's degree from Kent State University (Ohio). His clinical assignment is women's soccer. Jeff and Jennifer Beer, son Caleb and daughter Caitlin reside in Fort Wayne.

Erin Foreman, MS, ATC is in her seventh year with the Manchester University faculty. Erin is the head athletic trainer and an assistant professor of Exercise and Sport Sciences. A Gas City, Ind., native, Foreman earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State University and West Virginia University. Her clinical assignments are volleyball and women's basketball.

Mark Huntington, ATC, PT, is in his 29th year as a faculty member
and certified athletic trainer atManchester University. He graduated from Manchester in 1976 with a
degree in biology, earned his master's degree in physical therapy from
Boston University and his doctorate in physical education administration from
Indiana University. His current responsibilities include professor and chair of exercise and sport sciences, associate dean for academic affairs, director of graduate programs and program director of the graduate athletic training program. Dr. Huntington is the father of two grown children.

Zachary Dougal, MS, ATC is in his sixth year on the athletic training staff at Manchester University. Zach is an assistant professor in the Exercise and Sport Sciences Department as well as the clinical education coordinator of athletic training. Zach earned degrees from Ball State and Western Michigan Universities. His clinical assignments are men's soccer and baseball. Zach and Jill Dougal, and daughter Anniston reside in Fort Wayne.

Amanda Linman, MS, ATC, CSCS is in her second year as assistant athletic trainer though Sport ONE. Amanda received her master’s from Western Michigan University in 2011 and her BS at Indiana University in 2009. Amanda’s clinical assignments are with football, wrestling, and track and field. Amanda serves as an adjunct instructor in the Exercise & Sport Sciences Department.

Mandi Thelen, MS, ATC is in her second year on the Manchester University athletic training staff employed by Sport ONE. Mandi serves as the athletic trainer for cross country, tennis, men’s basketball, and softball and an adjunct instructor in the Exercise & Sport Sciences Department. Mandi received her master’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in 2011 and her BA in 2010 from Hope College.

Heather Banks, R.N, Director of health services, fulfills an
important role in providing student-athlete health care. In
cooperation with Manchester University athletic trainers, she
evaluates and treats illnesses, makes referrals to team physicians,
and provides immunizations. She also serves as a guest
lecturer for several courses in the athletic training curriculum.

Team Physician and Surgeon
Eric Jenkinson, M.D is a team physician and orthopedic consultant to
the Manchester University athletic teams. He has a specialty in pediatrics and has completed a sports medicine fellowship with Central Indiana Orthopaedics. He also serves as medical director
for the academic program in athletic training. He is in clinical
practice at Ortho Northeast, Fort Wayne.
John Pritchard, M.D serves as the team orthopedic surgeon through
Ortho Northeast, Fort Wayne. Dr. Pritchard earned his
undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, his medical degree from
Indiana University, and completed his knee and sports medicine fellowship
at Louisiana State University. He also serves as a guest lecturer in the
athletic training curriculum.
