Manchester University Athletic Training - Faculty/Staff/Medical Personnel
Manchester University has six certified athletic
trainers involved with athletic training education and
intercollegiate athletic coverage. Four hold
full-time faculty appointments, two hold adjunct faculty
appointments. Five other Certified Athletic Trainers aid in off campus educational opportunities for our students as Approved Clinical Instructors. Through Ortho Northeast of Fort
Wayne, orthopedic specialists and other medical professionals are involved in the education of Manchester's
athletic training majors as well.
Faculty/Athletic Training Staff
Jeffrey Beer, MA, LAT, ATC is in his nineth year at Manchester University. He serves as the Undergraduate Director of Athletic Training Education, and Associate Professor of Exercise and Sport Sciences. He served as head athletic trainer from 2007-09. Jeff earned a Bachelor's degree in athletic training from Ball State University and a Master's degree from Kent State University (Ohio). His clinical assignment is women's basketball. Jeff and Jennifer Beer, son Caleb and daughter Caitlin reside in South Whitley, Indiana.

Erin Foreman, MS, LAT, ATC is in her nineth year with the Manchester University faculty. Erin is the Head Athletic Trainer and an Assistant Professor of Exercise and Sport Sciences. A Gas City, Ind., native, Foreman earned her Bachelor's from Ball State University and Master's degrees from West Virginia University. Her clinical assignment is football.

Mark Huntington, PED, PT, LAT, ATC is in his 31st year at Manchester University. He graduated from Manchester in 1976 with a
degree in biology, Master's degree in Physical Therapy from
Boston University and Doctorate in Physical Education Administration from
Indiana University. His current responsibilities include Professor and chair of Exercise and Sport Sciences, Director of Graduate programs, Program Director of the graduate athletic training program and an assistant athletic trainer with Men's and Women's Cross Country. Dr. Huntington and his wife Karen are the parents of two grown children and two teenagers.

Zachary Dougal, MS, LAT, ATC is in his eighth year on the athletic training staff at Manchester University. Zach is an Assistant Professor in the Exercise and Sport Sciences Department as well as the Clinical Education Coordinator of Athletic Training. Zach earned degrees from Ball State and Western Michigan Universities. His clinical assignments are women's soccer and baseball. Zach and Jill Dougal, and two daughters, Anniston & Charlotte, reside in Fort Wayne.

Jennifer Beer, MA, LAT, ATC is in her second year on the Manchester University athletic training staff. Jennifer serves as the athletic trainer for volleyball, men’s basketball, and softball and an adjunct instructor in the Exercise & Sport Sciences Department. Jennifer received both her bachelors and master’s degree from Ball State University in 2000 & 2004. Jennifer and Jeff Beer, son Caleb and daughter Caitlin reside in South Whitley, Indiana.

Joe McCudden, MS, LAT, ATC is in his first year on the Manchester University athletic training staff employed by SportONE. Joe serves as the athletic trainer for men's soccer, wrestling and track and field. Joe is also an adjunct instructor in the Exercise & Sport Sciences Department. Joe received his bachelor’s degree from North Central College in 2011 and his master’s degree from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2013. He spends his free time playing Ultimate Frisbee.

Anna Richison, R.N, Director of Health Services, fulfills an
important role in providing student-athlete health care. In
cooperation with Manchester University athletic trainers, she
evaluates and treats illnesses, makes referrals to team physicians,
and provides immunizations. She also serves as a guest
lecturer for several courses in the athletic training curriculum.

Team Physician and Surgeon
Jeffrey Hartzell, M.D is a team physician to
the Manchester University athletic teams as well as medical director for the academic program in athletic training. He has a specialty in shoulder replacement and sports medicine. He completed his medical degree at Indiana University, Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of Florida.
John Pritchard, M.D serves as the team orthopedic surgeon through
Ortho Northeast, Fort Wayne. Dr. Pritchard earned his
undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, his medical degree from
Indiana University, and completed his knee and sports medicine fellowship
at Louisiana State University. He also serves as a guest lecturer in the
athletic training curriculum.
