Holl-Kintner Hall of Science

The Natural Sciences Division is housed in the three-story Holl-Kintner
Hall of Science and in the Clark Computer Center.

The ground level of Holl-Kintner Hall has a large lecture hall that seats
120, two smaller classrooms, a seminar room, a geology lab, four biology
labs, a greenhouse, and biology offices.

The second floor has classrooms, laboratories and offices for physics,
as well as offices and classrooms for mathematics and computer science.

The third floor has classrooms, laboratories and offices for chemistry.
-
Holl-Kintner Hall also contains a darkroom and a shop.
Holl-Kintner Hall is scheduled for a significant renovation-expansion project.

The Clark Computer Center currently houses classroom space for the computer
science program, as well as open access computer labs, the College's computer
network servers, and offices for the Director and staff of Information
Technology Services.
Koinonia Environmental and Retreat Center
The Koinonia
Environmental and Retreat Center is located approximately 12
miles north of campus. Koinonia is situated on 100 acres and has
the following:

mixed hardwood and softwood forest
-
a restored prairie
-
a five acre natural lake and reconstructed wetland complex
-
a two-story 40' by 100' building.

the upper level houses a discovery room, laboratory and project rooms
-
the lower level has a great room with a fireplace, a kitchen area, and
dormitory facilities.
Koinonia is used by faculty and students in the sciences for teaching and
research. A few courses that regularly use facilities at Koinonia
include:

Field Biology

Principles of Ecology

Freshwater Biology
-
Plant Diversity
-
Plant Taxonomy.
Other resources of the Natural Sciences Division

A nine inch telescope housed in the Charles Morris Observatory. The
telescope is available for class and student use, and for public viewing.

A JEOL 35-CF Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The SEM is housed
in the Morris Observatory laboratory building. SEM support equipment,
e.g., a sputter coater and critical point drier are housed in Holl-Kinter
Hall. The SEM is available for student use.

A computer-interfaced video imagery analysis system.
