Weekly meetings are held Mondays at 9 p.m. at 702 E 9th St (corner of 9th & Ruse Streets). We hold discussions centered around Peace and Social Justice issues with coffee, tea, and popcorn always provided.
11/3: School of Americas protest preview: we’ll discuss our past experiences at the SOA vigil/protest, and explain why we engage in this action every year.
11/10: Don Mosley & David Haskell: David’s work has focused heavily on peace building in the Middle East with the organization Dreams InDeed. Don Mosley is a founding member of Jubilee Partners, an organization that offers hospitality to refugees who have recently arrived in the USA.
11/17: Toru Kataoka: Toru teaches peace studies at Hokusei Gakuen University in Sapporo, Japan-a sister school to MU. Toru spent a year at MU as an exchange student in 95/96, and will return to share some educational stories.
11/24: SOA report back: we will share stories of this year’s trip to Fort Benning, Georgia.
12/1: Murray Hammond '17: Murray will share his experiences from a summer internship in Seattle, Washington. Murray conducted community outreach for an organization that works with LGBT victims of domestic violence.
12/8: Finals Breakfast: relax the first night of finals week with a study break! We’ll have all the breakfast essentials to fuel your brain during final exams.
Films are shown at the Peace House (1106 Wayne, corner of College and Wayne Streets) on Thursdays at 8 p.m.
