Pathways 4-Step Application Process

Thank you for your interest in the Pathways program!

To apply for either the summer program, you must complete the following 4-step process:

Step 1: Fill out the online Inquiry Form

This form lets us know that you are interested in the Pathways program and would like additional information. You cannot move on to the next step if you do not fill out this online form.

Please click here for the Inquiry Form.

Step 2: Preliminary meeting with the director of the Center for Service Opportunities (CSO)

During this meeting, we will give you more information about the Pathways program, highlight the expectations of student participants, and further explain the elements of the program application. This is not a formal interview. We just want to have a conversation with you and make sure you understand what Pathways is all about. You must meet with the director before your your application will be considered.

Step 3: Download the application from the Pathways website

The Pathways application is quite detailed. All sections must be completed in order your application to be considered. Please do not wait until the last minute to complete your application. We ask for letters of recommendation, a professional resume, 1-2 page essay, supervisor evaluation (only if you have a job on campus), project interest form, mentor commitment form, a request for clearance form, release form, and a background disclosure form. As you can imagine, it will take you some time to complete all of these forms. Please leave yourself enough time to complete all sections of the application before the respective deadline.

Pathways applications are in .pdf format. You may download a copy to your computer and fill it out, save your changes, then print and sign; or you may download the application, print it, and complete it by hand.

Step 4: Formal Interview

After you officially submit your application (by returning all materials to the Center for Service Opportunities director in Calvin Ulrey, first floor or mail box 17), you will be contacted for an interview. View this as a professional job interview – both in attire and conduct. You have to “sell” yourself as to why we should choose you to participate in this program. Not every student who applies and is invited to interview will be accepted into the program. It is a privilege to be chosen to participate.

Interviews will be conducted by the director of the Center for Service Opportunities.

Thank you again for your interest in the Pathways program. We look forward to reading your application!

If you have any further questions about the application process, please contact Ali Goetcheus for more information.
