| Educational Background |
International applicants must be able to read, write, and speak rapid idiomatic English. A score of 550 or above on the written TOEFL or 213 on the computer TOEFL is required of all students whose native language or language of instruction is not English. For students whose language of instruction is English, the SAT I exam (including the writing portion for fall 2006) is required unless a high level of competency is proven by A level exams. Students from non-English speaking countries will be required to prove English competency at the U.S. Consulate when applying for a visa. |

If you plan to transfer credit for courses taken at another university, your university transcript must be evaluated by a credential evaluator approved by Manchester University. The evaluation must be done before credits can be transferred, and not all credits will automatically transfer. The evaluation will cost about U.S. $150.00, and you will need to make arrangements directly with the credential evaluation service.

You should arrange for Manchester University to receive official or certified copies of your academic records throughout your attendance at secondary school, university, and professional institutions of learning. An exception is that those with a U.S. bachelor's degree or its equivalent need not send their secondary schools records. Records should list the subjects studied and the grade, mark, or other evidence that each individual subject was completed to the satisfaction of the authorities in charge. Records should also include certified copies of any diplomas, degrees, or other certificates received. All records should be in English. If the language of the records is not English, a certified literal translation must be included with the original document. Since certificates and records filed for examination are not ordinarily returned, you should send certified/official photocopies if the documents in question cannot be easily replaced. Uncertified photocopies alone are not acceptable. |

Cost of Attendance: Estimated minimum expenses for the nine month 2010-2011 academic year are U.S. $36,400. Of this total amount, tuition is estimated to be U.S. $24,400, room and board U.S. $9,000, personal expenses, deposits, and insurance, $3,000. Final costs are set in February each year. Your personal expenses may be higher than this minimum estimate.
Scholarships: Manchester University offers limited scholarships to especially promising international students. Scholarship amounts are based on an applicant's academic ability and, if awarded, may cover only a small portion of a student's expenses. We are not able to sponsor students who have substantial financial need.
Payment of Fees: All students attending Manchester for the first time must pay their first semester charges before enrollment will be allowed. This will include tuition and fees less credit for one half of the scholarship awarded; room and board; health insurance; housing security deposit; orientation fee; and a $500 deposit for second semester. If a student chooses to leave Manchester before the end of the academic year, the $500 deposit will be forfeited to the University. Subsequent charges may be paid in two payments by Aug. 15 and Jan. 15.
Evidence of Financial Support: In addition to the financial information required in this application, if you are relying on personal savings or support from your parents, you must send a letter of support and official bank statements in English listing funds in U.S. dollars. If you are receiving support from a government or other source, include an official letter of award or support.
Work on Campus: International students are able to earn up to U.S. $2,000 by working on campus toward the minimum financial requirements.
Campus Housing Policy: All students must live in on-campus housing until their senior year.

| Submitting your application |
| Important. U.S. visa regulations require that certification of admission be based upon both academic acceptance and satisfactory evidence of adequate funds to meet all of the expenses that will be incurred in the student's proposed program of study. All questions above must be answered concerning the amount of financial support that will be available to you from personal, family, or sponsor resources and official signatures procured. |
