S.T.A.R. Program FAQs

Can I refer a student to MC without signing up for the S.T.A.R. program?
Yes. Use the online referral form to alert the Office of Admissions of any student you feel might be a good fit or who has expressed interest in Manchester. Fill out as much as you know about the student – we don't expect you to know all details about the student's information. Complete the form for each student you'd like to recommend.

What happens after I make a referral?
When you fill out the online referral form, it is sent to the MC admissions team. We check to see if the student is already in our data base. If not, he/she is added to our list to receive mailings and phone calls, as if they had made a personal inquiry. If the student requests no further contact, we will remove them from our list.

How can I help out at a college fair or other recruiting event?
Your Manchester experience can speak volumes to a student who is considering Manchester. Sharing your experience and how Manchester has made a difference in your life is the best help you can give. It's like providing a testimonial from a satisfied customer. Admissions counselors, who conduct these recruiting events regularly, can provide coaching about topics and special areas of focus.

Where can I find a schedule of college fairs?
From our online admissions counselor territory map, click on your location. A pop-window will display the counselor in your area and dates of upcoming college fairs.

How can I help by making phone calls?
A personal conversation with a student can be an important factor in their decision to choose MC. In December, you will receive names of up to 10 prospective students who we try to match with you by hometown, or academic interests that reflect your profession or major at Manchester. You can help by talking about the University, answering questions and encouraging students to apply. Sometimes S.T.A.R. members make phone calls to prospective students and parents throughout the year as well.

How much time will I commit to by being a part of the S.T.A.R. program?
There are a variety of ways S.T.A.R. members can help with our recruiting efforts, and members can devote as much or little time and resources as they are able. We welcome all that you're willing to do, but simply sharing your Manchester experience with prospective students is the best help you can give, and can have an effect on their college decision. If, at any time, you decide you can help more or less than you currently do, please contact us to let us know.
