
11.18.09 - SPARTANS POST 99-74 WIN OVER PURDUE NORTH CENTRAL
Manchester picked up their second win of the early season on Wednesday following a 99-74 win over Purdue North Central.
Manchester trailed 37-35 at the half, hitting just 7-17 free throws and 12-29 shots. In the second half, MC outscored the Panthers 64-37, going 13-13 from the free throw line and 21-28 shots from the field, including 8-10 three point attempts.
Tyler Henn led Manchester with 18 points, hitting 8-8 shots from the floor and had six rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot. Mitch Schaefer hit five three pointers to finish with 15 points, while Nathan Ferch and Colin Clemens added 12 points a piece. Ferch was 5-7 from the floor and had five rebounds while Clemens was 4-6 overall, 3-4 from behind the arc.
Manchester improves to 2-0 on the year and returns to action Friday in the first round of the Manchester College Bankers' Classic as they host Alma starting at 8 p.m. Grace College and Concordia (MI) square off starting at 6 p.m.
11.15.09 - MEN POST 79 - 63 WIN OVER EARLHAM IN SEASON OPENER
Manchester College's men's basketball team posted a 79-63 win over Earlham to start the 2009 season. Manchester jumped out to a 50-29 lead at the half, hitting 20-30 shots (66.7%) in the first half.
Jordan Moss led Manchester with 18 points, hitting 8-11 shots and added nine rebounds
and two assists. Tyler Henn and Jason Spindler added 12 points each, with Henn knocking down 5-9 shots and 2-2 three point attempts. Spindler hit five of his seven shots from the floor, and added a pair of blocks. Nathan Ferch added 10 points, six rebounds and three steals in the win.
Manchester stands at 1-0 on the year, and resumes play on Wednesday as they host Purdue North Central, then host the annual Bankers' Classic on Friday and Saturday.

Head Coach Brad Nadborne, in his sixth year at Manchester, leads a program that has gained both conference and national recognition. Before coming to Manchester College, Nadborne served three seasons as an assistant coach at DePauw University, with a one-year stint at the University of Wisconsin/LaCrosse as the interim head coach. He spent five seasons as a graduate and head assistant coach at Cornell University, and two years as the head recruiter for the University of Colorado.
- Manchester College is the only school in the HCAC to play in a national championship, finishing runner-up in 1995 under then Head Coach Steve Alford.
- Sophomores Nathan Ferch and Tyler Henn were named honorable mention All-Conference, along with first year player Jason Spindler.
