
10.31.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO HANOVER 2-1
Manchester fell to Hanover 2-1 to wrap up the 2009 season on Saturday. Hanover held a 2-0 lead following their second goal in the 65th minute of action before Ben Cole scored on a penalty kick for Manchester in the 86th minute of play. Matt Mullen had seven saves in the loss. Manchester finishes the season 4-13 overall, 3-5 in the HCAC.
10.28.09 - MANCHESTER POSTS 1-0 WIN OVER DEFIANCE
Manchester's Dian Radev scored in the 35th minute of play to give Manchester a 1-0 conference win over Defiance on Wednesday. Matt Mullen recorded eight saves in the shutout win.
Manchester moves to 4-12 overall, 3-4 in the HCAC. They close out the regular season on Saturday as they travel to Hanover. Manchester sits a half game behind Hanover in the conference standings, and with a win Saturday can earn the fourth and final spot for the HCAC Conference Tournament.
10.20.09 - BLUFFTON DEFEATS MC 1-0
Bluffton University defeated Manchester 1-0 in league action Tuesday afternoon. BU scored in the 50th minute of play to go up 1-0 and to pick up the win. Goalkeeper Matt Mullen had five saves for Manchester.
MC falls to 3-12 overall, 2-4 in the HCAC. They return to action next Wednesday at Defiance.
10.17.09 - MC POSTS 2-1 WIN OVER MT. ST. JOSEPH
Manchester picked up a 2-1 conference win over Mount St. Joseph on Saturday.
Manchester took a 1-0 lead into the half as Garrett Fredrick scored in the 24th minute of action on a Ben Cole assist. Cole assisted MC's second goal of the game as Lucas Shelly scored in the 76th minute to go ahead 2-0. Mount St. Joseph scored in the 88th minute of play to make it a 2-1 contest. Matt Mullen had two saves in the win for Manchester.
The Spartans move to 3-11 overall, 2-3 in the HCAC. They remain home for Tuesday's HCAC contest versus Bluffton starting at 4 p.m.
10.10.09 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO ROSE-HULMAN 1-0
Manchester fell to Rose-Hulman 1-0 in conference action Saturday. Rose scored in the 32nd minute of play to pick up the 1-0 victory. Matt Mullen had 14 saves for Manchester in the loss. The men fall to 2-11 overall, 1-3 in the HCAC. They return to action Saturday against Mt. St. Joseph starting at 2 p.m., following the women's game at noon. Fans and spectators are encouraged to wear pink, as the Spartans are hosting a Pink Out Day on campus, to help raise awareness for breast cancer research. A silent auction will be held at the soccer games to donate to the Susan B. Komen For the Cure Foundation.
10.7.09 - RAVENS BLANK MC 3-0
Anderson defeated Manchester 3-0 in conference soccer action on Wednesdsay. Anderson scored in the fifth minute to secure the win. Matt Mullen recorded 12 saves for Manchester in the loss. Manchester moves to 2-10 on the year, 1-2 in the HCAC. They travel to Rose-Hulman on Saturday.
10.3.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO TRANSYLVANIA 5-0
Manchester suffered their first conference loss of the season Saturday to Transylvania in a 5-0 defeat. Transy jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half and scored three goals in the second half to pick up the win.
Manchester falls to 2-9 overall, 1-1 in the HCAC. They host conference rival Anderson on Wednesday in a tail end of a doubleheader scheduled with the women, who play at 2 p.m. followed by the men at 4 p.m.
9.30.09 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO EARLHAM 4-1
Earlham posted four straight goals, taking a 3-0 lead at the half and went up 4-0 before Manchester's John Lash scored on a
Nicolas Balmoria assist in the 86th minute for MC.
Manchester drops to
2-8 on the year, and remains home for Saturday's Homecoming contest versus Transylvania starting at 2 p.m.
9.26.09 - SPARTANS POST 2-0 WIN OVER FRANKLIN
Manchester picked up its first conference win of the year in a 2-0 decision over Franklin College on Saturday.
Manchester
scored on an own goal at the 13th minute to start the game, then Micah Sollenberger scored the second goal of the half at the 23rd minute as MC picked up the 2-0 win. Matt Mullen had six saves in the shutout win.
Manchester improves to 2-7 overall, 1-0 in the HCAC. They return to action Wednesday as they host Earlham and stay home on Saturday as they face Transylvania on Homecoming Saturday.
9.24.09 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO GOSHEN 3-2
Goshen jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead the first 18 minutes of action, but Manchester scored two straight goals to tie the game at two-all. Goshen scored in the 86th minute of action to take the 3-2 win.
Carson McFadden scored the first goal of the game on a Ben Cole assist to cut the lead to a 2-1 Goshen advantage at the half. J.B. Schwartz scored unassisted in the 75th minute to tie the game at 2-2 before Goshen pic ked up the game winner late in the game.
Manchester fall to 1-7 on the year, and opens HCAC play on Saturday as they travel to Franklin.
9.19.09 - KENYON NIPS MANCHESTER 3-1
Manchester fell to Kenyon 3-1 in men's soccer action on Saturday.
After going down 2-0 at the half, Manchester's Andrew Gray scored in the 53rd minute of action. Kenyon picked up the insurance goal in the 66th minute of play to pick up the 3-1 win. Matt Mullen had 13 saves for MC.
Manchester falls to 1-6 on the year.
They return to action Thursdsay as they host Goshen.
9.15.09 - MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO HUNTINGTON 3-0
Manchester's men's soccer team fell to Huntington 3-0 in home action Tuesday afternoon. Huntington jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the half as both teams were held scoreless in the second half of play for the 3-0 score.
Manchester falls to 1-5 overall, and returns to action at Kenyon on Saturday.
9.12.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO ADRIAN IN FINAL GAME OF TRINE TOURNAMENT
Ben Cole scored his second goal of the tournament, but it wasn't enough as Manchester fell to Adrian 2-1 in action from the Trine University Tournament on Saturday. Cole's goal came in the second half as MC trailed 2-0 at the half.
Manchester falls to 1-4 on the year and returns to action on Tuesday as they host Huntington starting at 4 p.m.
9.11.09 - MANCHESTER POSTS FIRST WIN OF SEASON OVER TRINE
Manchester's men's soccer tream posted a 2-1 win over Trine on Friday in the second game of the Trine Univesity Tournament.
Dian Radev scored the game winner in the 38th minute of play on a Ben Cole assist and gave Manchester a 1-0 lead at the half. Cole scored the insurance goal unassisted in the 49th minute of play, while Trine scored their only goal of the game in the 56th minute of action.
Manchester moves to 1-3 on the year, and faces Adrian in the first game of Saturday's round two action from Trine.
9.8.09 - ALBION DEFEATS MANCHESTER 5-1
Despite taking a quick 1-0 lead three minutes into the match following and Andrew Gray unassisted goal, Manchester fell to Albion 5-1 in road action Tuesday. Albion scored all five goals in the first half, starting at the 9:54 mark and ending at the 32nd minute.
Matt Mullen recorded six saves in the contest for Manchester, who drops to 0-3 on the year and returns to action this Friday and Saturday at the Trine University Tournament.
9.5.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO MOODY BIBLE 3-1
Manchester's men's soccer team fell to Moody Bible on Saturday by the score of 3-1. Moody scored in the 26th minute of play to take a 1-0 lead into the half. Manchester's Ben Cole scored on a penalty kick in the 49th minute of action to tie the game, and Moody Bible responded with a pair of goals to take the 3-1 win.
Manchester drops to 0-2 on the year, and returns to action Tuesday as they travel to Albion.
9.1.09 - MANCHESTER DROPS SEASON OPENER TO OHIO NORTHERN 2-0
Manchester's men's soccer team fell in their season opener 2-0 to Ohio Northern on Tuesday. Senior goalkeeper Matt Mullen recorded 11 saves in the loss. ONU scored on a penalty kick late in the first half and again midway in the second half on an unassisted goal.
Manchester falls to 0-1 on the year, and travels to Moody Bible on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.

January Session in Jamaica
Once every four years, Coach Good takes the team on a trip to Jamaica during January session. The student athletes earn class credit, participate in a service/work camp and get to play some soccer, too! In 2006, a social psychology class was led by Dr. Marcie Coulter-Kern. Under Head Coach David Good, the men's soccer team continues to excel. Coach Good's formula for success is proven, being named Conference Coach of the Year five times. Good was an All-American midfielder as a college player. His teams reached the NCAA Division III Final Four all four years of his college career and won one national championship.
- Chris Rowe graduates as a three-time captain, four time All-HCAC selection, three-time Great Lakes All-Region, 2005 HCAC Freshman of the Year, 2006 Academic All-Conference and 2007 NSCAA Scholar Athlete All-American
- Manchester finished the 2008 se ason with a 9-9-2 regular season record and an 0-1 record in conference tournament action.
- The Spartans placed three players on the HCAC First Team All-Conference list, Ben Cole, Chris Rowe and Brian Woods
- Matt Mullen and Ryan Deeter were selected Second Team All-Conference
