11.11.09 - PEDEN, NASH EARN ALL-CONFERENCE RECOGNITION
Manchester College juniors Christa Peden and Lauren Nash received Honorable Mention All-Conference honors Wednesday as the Heartland Collegiate Conference released the annual All-Conference selections.

Nash picked up her third All-Conference award, being named Freshman of the Year in 2007 and named to the First Team All-Conference, and was a 2008 Honorable Mention pick. She ended the year with a 7.4 assist and 3.1 dig per set average and had 25 service aces.

Peden also picked up her third All-Conference award, after being named to the Second Team All-Conference in 2007 and a First Team selection in 2008. Peden led the team in kills with 281 and had a .44 block per set average for Manchester.

11.3.09 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO ANDERSON 3-0
Manchester's volleyball team closed out the season on Tuesday, falling to Anderson 3-0 in conference action. Game scores were 25-20, 25-20, 25-18.

Christa Peden led Manchester with 15 kills. Anna Kazcmarek added seven kills, while Katie Miller and Lauren Nash had three kills each. Nash added 23 assists and Carla Conrad led the team with 13 digs.

Manchester finishes the year 5-26 overall, 0-8 in the HCAC.

10.22.09 - DEFIANCE DOWNS MC 3-0
Manchester's volleyball team fell to Defiance in conference action 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-19).

Christa Peden led Manchester with 12 kills, while Amanda Dickman added seven and Anna Kazcmarek had five. Lauren Nash added 22 assists and Peden led the team with 10 digs.

Manchester falls to 5-21 on the season, 0-7 in the HCAC. They travel to the Calvin/Hope tournament next Friday and Saturday.

10.18.09 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO MSJ 3-1
Manchester fell to conference opponent Mt. St. Joseph 3-1 on Sunday. The Mount took game one 25-11, with Manchester taking game two 25-15. MSJ won the last two sets 25-17 and 25-18 to pick up the win.

Christa Peden led MC with 12 kills while Amanda Dickman added 10. Lauren Nash had 27 assists and 15 digs to lead the Spartans.

Manchester falls to 5-20 on the year, 0-6 in the HCAC. They return home on Thursday to host Defiance.

10.17.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO HANOVER, ASBURY
Manchester dropped a 3-0 conference contest to Hanover and a 3-1 match to Asbury in a tri-match event hosted by Hanover.

Hanover game scores were 25-18, 25-23, 25-14. Against Asbury, Manchester dropped the first to sets 25-18 and 25-14 before winning game three 25-21. They fell in the fourth set 25-22.

Manchester falls to 5-19 on the year, 0-5 in the HCAC. They return to action Sunday at Mount St. Joseph.

10.14.09 - MC FALLS TO BLUFFTON 3-0
Manchester fell to HCAC leader Bluffton University 3-0 in home action on Wednesday. Game scores were 25-9, 25-15, 25-14.

Amanda Dickman had six kills for Manchester, while Kristi Staton and anna Kazcmarek added four kills each.

Manchester drops to 5-17 overall, 0-4 in the HCAC. They travel to Hanover College on Saturday in a tri-match.

10.10.09 - SPARTANS SPLIT AT ROSE-HULMAN TRI-MATCH

Manchester fell to Rose-Hulman 3-1, but picked up a 3-0 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy in action Saturday from Rose-Hulman.

Against Rose, Manchester fell in game one 25-14, picked up a win in game two 25-16, then lost games three and four 25-17 and 25-16. Amanda Dickman led the way with 11 kills. Christa Peden and Whitney Piatt added seven kills each.

In the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Manchester won in three straight 25-15, 25-11, 25-17. Katie Miller had 15 kills to lead the Spartans, while Piatt added 11. Amanda Dickman added eight kills. Lauren Nash had 31 assists and Kristi Staton led MC with 21 digs.

Manchester moves to 5-16 on the year, 0-3 in the HCAC. They return to action Wednesday at home as they host Bluffton.

10.7.09 - FRANKLIN RALLIES TO DEFEAT MANCHESTER 3-2
Manchester picked up the first two sets, but Franklin rallied to take the next three as Manchester fell to Franklin 3-2 in HCAC action Wednesday night. Game scores were 20-25, 13-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-13.

Amanda Dickman led the way with 13 kills, 8 block assists and three aces. Katie Miller and Christa Peden added 12 kills apiece, with Miller notching six block assists and Peden recording four. Lauren Nash had 40 assists and Brooke Waddups had 19 digs. Manchester falls to 4-15 on the year, 0-2 in the HCAC. They travel to Rose-Hulman on Saturday.

10.3.09 - TRANSYLVANIA WINS OVER MC 3-0
Manchester fell to Transylvania in volleyball action 3-0 on Sunday. Game scores were 25-112, 25-16, 15-17.

Anna Kazcmarek led Manchester with six kills, while Katie Miller and Amanda Dickman added five kills each. Lauren Nash had 16 assist and Brooke Whaddups had 16 digs.

Manchester falls to 4-14 on the year and returns to action Wednesday at Franklin for a 7 p.m. contest.

9.26.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO HUNTINGTON, TAKE GOSHEN IN FIVE
Manchester fell to Huntington 3-1, but rallied in their second match of the day to defeat Goshen in five games with a 3-2 score.

Against Huntington, MC fell in game one 25-20, won in game two 25-19, then fell in games three and four 25-19 and 25-15. Christa Peden led the way with 10 kills and Amanda Dickman added seven kills. Brooke Waddups added 13 digs and Lauren Nash had 25 assists.

Against Goshen MC picked up two straight games 25-20 and 25-21, then lost games three and four 25-21 and 25-22, then bounced back from a 13-11 deficit to pick up game five 16-14. Katie Miller had 15 kills for MC, Dickman had 13 kills and Peden added 10 kills. Nash had 45 assists and Waddups recorded 20 digs.

Manchester moves to 4-13 overall and returns to action Sunday as they host Transylvania to start conference play and is part of Homecoming weekend.

9.24.09 - MANCHESTER FALLS TO ST. MARY'S 3-0
Manchester lost to St. Mary's 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-22) in action on Thursday.

Anna Kazcmarek led Manchester with 10 kills. Amanda Dickman added eight kills and Katie Miller added eight kills. Lauren Nash had 29 assists and Brooke Waddups recorded 12 digs.

Manchester falls to 3-12 on the year, and returns home Saturday for a tri-meet with Huntington and Goshen starting at 11 a.m.

9.19.09 - SPARTANS FINISH 1-3 AT AURORA INVITE, PEDEN NAMED ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Manchester finished fifth out of six teams at the 2009 Aurora University Tournament over the weekend. Manchester opened up with a 3-1 win over Judson (25-23, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18), but fell to Aurora in five sets (25-27, 21-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-10) on Friday.

Saturday's action had Manchester falling to Albion 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-18) and North park 3-1 (25-17, 25-14, 22-25, 26-24). Junior Christa Peden was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Manchester moves to 3-11 on the year and plays at home for the first time this season on Thursday as they host St. Mary's starting at 7 p.m.

9.12.09 SPARTANS DROP TWO AT OBERLIN

Manchester dropped a pair of contests at the Oberlin tri-meet on Saturday, falling to Carnegie Mellon 3-0 and Oberlin 3-1.

Game scores of the Carnegie Mellon match were 25-17, 25-16, 25-22. Katie Miller had 10 kills to lead MC, while Anna Kaczmarek added eight. Lauren Nash had 24 assist in the match.

Against Oberlin, Manchester fell 25-20, 25-27, 25-21, 25-17. Christa Peden had nine kills while Amanda Dickman, Miller and Kaczmarek each had seven kills. Manchester had nine total blocks with Dickman recording six and Kristi Staton adding four.

Manchester falls to 2-8 on the year, and returns to action on Friday and Saturday at the Aurora Tournament.

9.11.09 - SPARTANS SPLIT IN DAY ONE OF YEO-SCOT TOURNAMENT
Manchester fell to host Wooster 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-21) but picked up a 3-0 win over La Roche (25-9, 25-9, 25-16) in day one of the Wooster/Oberlin Yeo-Scot Tournament. Christa Peden was named to the Wooster Tournament All-Tournament Team.

Manchester travels to Oberlin on Saturday for second round action starting at 11 a.m.

9.9.09 - KALAMAZOO TOPS MC 3-1
Manchester's volleyball team fell to Kalamazoo 3-1 in action Wednesday night from Kalamazoo. Kalamazoo took a two game lead after scores of 27-25 and 25-13, with Manchester picking up game three 18-25. Kalamazoo closed out the match with a 25-9 win in game four. Christa Peden led MC with 11 kills and three blocks, Whitney Piatt added two aces and Katie Miller had two blocks.

Manchester falls to 1-5 on the year, and returns to action Friday at Wooster and Saturday at Oberlin.

9.6.09 - MC SPLITS IN DAY TWO AT KALAMAZOO INVITE
Manchester fell to Baldwin-Wallace 3-0 in the first game Sunday, but picked up their first win of the season in a 3-0 victory against North Park.

Manchester fell to Baldwin-Wallace 25-23, 25-18 and 25-12. Katie Miller, Christa Peden and Amanda Dickman had six kills apiece. In the North Park win, MC won with scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 32-30. Peden led with 13 kills, while Kristi Staton and Dickman had seven kills each.

Manchester moves to 1-4 on the year, and returns to action Wednesday at Kalamazoo.

9.5.09 - SPARTANS FALL TO OLIVET, THIEL IN GAME DAY OF KALAMAZOO TOURNAMENT

Manchester's volleyball team fell to Olivet 3-1 in the opening game of the Kalamazoo Hornet Tournament. Game scores were 25-16, 25-16, 20-25 and 25-17. Manchester fell to Thiel in three straight, 25-17, 25-10, 25-21.

The Spartans drop to 0-3 on the year, and return to action Sunday in day two of the Kalamazoo Tournament against Baldwin-Wallace at noon and North Park at 2 p.m.

9.1.09 - GOSHEN DOWNS MC 3-0 IN SEASON OPENER
Manchester's volleyball team fell to Goshen 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 28-26) as they opened their season Tuesday.

Kristi Staton led the way with four kills while Christa Peden and Katie Miller added three kills each.

Manchester returns to action this Saturday and Sunday at the Kalamazoo Tournament.

Kendra Marlowe is in her third year as head coach for the Spartan volleyball program. She led the team to their second-straight winning season last year. Prior coming to MC, Coach Marlowe was the head coach at Lawrence University in Wisconsin, where her team set a school record for most wins in a season.

  • Manchester posted its second straight winning season with an 18-15 record.
  • Senior Stephanie Rion and sophomore Christa Peden were named All-Conference.
  • Sophomore Lauren Nash was named Honorable Mention All-Conference and Amanda Dickman was voted to the All-Freshman Team.
