Manchester Green Efforts in the News and Online
Recently: System supervisor Gary Heckman '02 stars in 2 videos on the MU YouTube channel. In the first video, Gary explains how we improved energy efficiency on campus. In the second video, he takes viewers on a virtual tour of the tunnels under our North Manchester campus. The tunnel tour drew more than 1,200 impressions in its first hour on Facebook.
MARCH 9: The environmental reporter for WFFT-TV in Fort Wayne called soon after an MU news release, asking for an interview with System supervisor Gary Heckman about our green initiatives. The interview is available on the WFFT web site.
FEBRUARY 2015: System supervisor Gary Heckman ’02 received well-deserved recognition when an article he co-authored with Indianapolis engineer Tom Durkin was featured in the journal of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. In the article, Gary describes MU’s success in increasing the energy efficiency of an aging heating and cooling infrastructure.

February 2015: WFFT-TV ran a story about the efforts of Professor Jerry Sweeten '75 to improve fish spawning in the Eel River. After removing two dams from the Eel in 2012 – the first dams removed from a major river in Indiana – Sweeten and his colleagues are planning to install a 125-foot long fish ladder at the Stockdale Mill dam near Roann, Ind., allowing the fish to move upstream.
