Menzer List of 1912Max Heinze was assigned the editorship of the fourth part of the Academy edition of Kant’s gesammelte Schriften (1900 ff.), which was to include all of the student notes from Kant’s lectures. Area editors were Heinze (for the notes on metaphysics, logic, and natural religion), Paul Gedan (physical geography), Oswald Külpe (anthropology), Paul Menzer (moral philosophy), and Rudolf Stammler (physics) [see Kant-Studien, 1 (1897), p. 150]. Heinze died, however, on 17 September 1909, and was replaced as general editor by Paul Menzer (with Bruno Bauch, Paul Gedan, Rudolf Stammler, and Menzer serving as area editors) [Ak. 1: xvii (1910)]. Menzer was to take over Heinze’s editorial area, and therefore Bauch picked up moral philosophy. It is in this context that Menzer prepared a list of all currently available sets of lecture notes. Many of these manuscripts were with Menzer in Halle, and then were sent back to the Berlin Academy of Sciences in 1922, and from there some were sent back to private owners. Menzer’s numbers are followed by the current names of the manuscripts. This list is made available here in order to facilitate the interpretation of any references to the list found in the older literature. | |||
