Why I decided
to attend MC: |
FIRST OF ALL I LIKE THE FACT THAT IT WAS A SMALL COLLEGE AS SUCH I'LL GET TO KNOW THE PROFESSORS AND WILL BE ABLE TO GET THEIR ATTENTION IN CASE I HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. I ALSO WANTED TO GO TO A NEW PLACE AND GET A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE. AND OF COUSRE BE AWAY FROM THE CITY FOR A WHILE. |
My favorite things
about Manchester: |
THE PROFESSORS, OR SHOULD I SAY THE STAFF, THEY ARE SO FRIENDLY. MOST OF THEM TAKE THEIR TIME IN EXPLAINING AND MAKING SURE WE UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING THAT IS BEING TAUGHT IN CLASS. ALL OTHER PEOPLE WHO WORK HERE ARE NICE AND TRY TO HELP IN ANY WAY THEY CAN. |
| I never
expected: |
TO ENROLL FOR A MUSIC AND ARTS CLASS FOR CREDIT. I'M A PRE-MED MAJOR AS SUCH I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD GET THE CHANCE TO ACTUALLY STUDY THE THINGS I LIKE TO DO AT LEAST NOT IN A COLLEGE. I REALLY ENJOY MY ARTS CLASS AND I LOVE MY PROFESSOR |
At Manchester
College, I found: |
FRIENDLY PROFESSORS. I JUST LIKE MY PROFESSORS AND THE ONES I SEE AROUND, THEY ARE SO ACCOMMODATING AND WELCOMING. |

Why I decided
to attend MC: |
I liked MC at first because it was small and personal and I felt like it was a good distance from home for independence, and a safe environment to grow. After attending here I discovered so much more to love- a great faculty and programs, opportunities I never thought I would have in my life, and limitless possibilities that are available to me by just stepping up and taking the steps forward. |
My favorite things
about Manchester: |
I love that I can do everything that I want to do academically, I can play my horn with other students and professional musicians in the orchestra, sing my heart out in the vocal ensembles, whip out a trumpet and break down to some jazz riffs, shake my shirt and screech out a note only dogs can hear in an opera, and then go to my room and write a symphony or quartet that will later be played by my peers and I get to see my work on a stage being performed. |
| I never
expected: |
Well, first off, I never thought that as a sophomore I would be able to stand in front of a 40 member ensemble of college musicians and conduct an 8 minute piece at a concert. Also, I never expected to like being busy and so involved. With ensembles, clubs, jobs, homework, etc., it would seem daunting to someone outside of the situation, but it really isn't! It's just making my mark on this campus and figuring out who I am and what I will bring to the world after Manchester. |
At Manchester
College, I found: |
a risen bar. Manchester set the bar high in expectations to push me to excel, and it works, and I feel great about it.

Why I decided

My favorite things
about Manchester: |
I love all the opportunities Manchester has to offer its students. I was able to complete my January Session course this year in Iowa, observing the caucuses, shaking hands with candidates, and attending their events. It was an eye opening experience. |
| I never
expected: |
I never expected my experiences at Manchester to shape who I am so drastically. I have learned to be more accepting of different views, to not only learn what I believe but also why, and to examine issues from other standpoints while continuing to stand for my own convictions. |
At Manchester
College, I found: |
At Manchester College I found amazing relationships. Not only with other students, but also with the faculty and staff. I know that I am not just a number here. The professors notice when you are in class and when you are not. Most importantly, though, they want to and will make great efforts to see their students succeed inside and outside of the classroom. |

Why I decided

My first choice was another university, but financially, Manchester offered better scholarships. I don't know where I would be without the experiences and frienships that I found here. |
My favorite things
about Manchester: |
I love the day-to-day rush. From people playing ultimate frisbee on the mall and opera rehearsal to comedians and dances, there's always something to do. I am always a little stressed, but pushed to do better, to work harder, and to be more involved in leadership activities. The greatest part of this is that I know that my professors will be there to help when I get overwhelmed. |
| I never
expected: |
I was hired as the Public Relations intern, which I never expected because I applied the summer after my freshman year. The other places I applied at said I was too young without even giving me an interview. |
At Manchester
College, I found: |
passion. I sang in Carnegie Hall and felt more love of music than at any other point in my life. I visited Costa Rica and learned to love not only Spanish, but discovered that I can’t wait to spend my life traveling. More than that, though, I found sleepless nights with my best friends, learning to laugh at ourselves and at life. I ran for student government offices, danced in my room in the middle of the night, and learned to let go. I found the passion of learning through experience and the realization of true friendship. I found my passion for life. |
