The atmosphere that the faculty and students create really makes campus welcoming. The attentiveness, caring, and knowledge that the professors displayed really sealed the deal.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
I love how diverse the people are, not only racially and politically but in interest areas. I like the fact that I can have a group of friends that debate the meaning of life and a group that dance all night, and that the groups will intermingle enthusiastically.
I never
expected:
Two of my friends and I dressed up in eighties clothes and started a dance party in every dorm.
At Manchester
College, I found:
Passion. People here love what they do, and it shows. It comes through in every program; the staff is passionate about their subjects, the students are passionate about the opportunies the college experience provides, and everyone is passionate about the college itself.

Why I decided
to attend MC:
I absolutely love the atmosphere of the campus. The professors get to know you--you're not just a number. My largest class this semester only has about 25 students. Average size of classes for my major: 5. It's great getting so much personal attention. Plus, the campus is beautiful, and the dorms are all pretty nice. It's also close to home, which was an important factor for me.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
The people. Everyone is so friendly--professors, custodial staff, other students...you can't make it to your classes without at least a few people saying hi to you.
I never
expected:
I never expected that I would have been in Student Government. But being in it really opened my eyes to the fact that the students here ARE the voice of the college. We make a lot of important decisions, and being on the exec board of SGA was a great experience.
At Manchester
College, I found:
myself. In high school I was kind of shy. I didn't have a ton of friends, just a few close ones. But once I came to Manchester, I finally found what I was looking for. I have different groups of friends--some in music, some in sports. I'm outgoing and I love my classes. My life has taken on such a different view since I got here, and I really don't think that I would be as happy at a different college.

I wanted to go to a place where nobody knew my name. Coming to Manchester has forced me to go out of my comfort zone and test the waters. It allowed me to start over and be who I wanted to be.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
The people are by far my most favorite thing at Manchester. The people I have met have left a deep impression on me. It has been amazing how accepting and friendly people can be.

At Manchester

At Manchester College, I found eye opening experiences. I came to Manchester College fairly ignorant on issues involving the war, civil rights in today's society, the environment, and religion. From discussions in classes, organizations, and groups of friends, I have acquired more of an understanding of issues that affect me.

At Manchester
College, I found:
a small town environment that I enjoy. Although some people may not get along with their roommates, there are other people on campus to become friends with. The small town environment makes it easier to get to know people on campus. If I could tell incoming first years one thing it would be this: don't worry too much about you and your roomie getting along becuase you don't necessarily have to be friends, you just need to be civil to each other.

Why I decided
to attend MC:
Honestly, because it's a Brethren college and I like the people. Also, it has the nonprofit option. But after being there a year and studying abroad so far this year, I realize that the professors, staff, and faculty are incredibly supportive and helpful, the academics are great and challenging, and it's a fun place to be.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
I am proud of the student population that we have. After seeing other students from other colleges, I realize that while MC has our share of problems with close-mindedness and discrimination, it is definitely a more progressive college and one that tries to foster open-mindedness and acceptance for all- conservative, liberal, neutral, republican, green party, democrat, et. al.

At Manchester College, I found __a more true self__: While I had a good sense of myself before going to MC, meeting the people I have and being in the classes I have has helped me know even more about myself and has allowed me to change, as well. Through challenging conversations, homework assignments, etc. I have been forced to think more globally and to dig more deeply into my person, so I have a better understanding of my beliefs and morals and way of living.

I am Church of the Brethren and decided that I wanted to attend a Church of the Brethren school. The funny thing was I had already applied at another Church of the Brethren school, then I took a tour of this campus and I really liked it. I immediately applied here and did not even finish my other application.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
I really like all of the people that I have met here. There is a super tight community anywhere you go. I have some of the best firends in the world here. They are constantly there for me and listen when I need to talk. I also love the faculty and staff, when you do not do well on a test or you need help they are always there to help me recover.
I never
expected:
I never expected to go to a club Halloween party dressed as a mime and make so many peoples night. This included our guests that were mentally and physically handicapped. And seeing their joy even though we didn't talk. We just danced with them and had a lot of fun. Seeing several of them go from shy to outgoing in one night. I also never thought that I would be working part time in the campus chapel. Helping to make the transition for a new campus pastor.
At Manchester
College, I found:
At Manchester College, I found community. I found a place where I can belong in this time in my life. I am trying to take that next step. And I have found all of these people to back me up. And this isn't only the students. The faculty and staff are also amazing. The people that work in the Union come up to you and make sure that you are warm enough when going outside. My FYC advisor has done so much; he has taught us how to do everything that you could ever think of. And finally the faculty are pretty awesome when they give you a syllabus at the beginning of the year with their home phone number on there. They work so hard and are amazing. I also now can see the day that I have my own classroom and making my dream of being a teacher a reality.

I found so many things here at Manchester, in the form of people, experiences, perspectives and classes that have challenged me. I never knew I wanted this, and it wasn't something I looked for in particular when searching for colleges, but it has turned out to be everything I've always wanted because the experiences I have had here at MC have made me into the person I am today!

Starting an education after being out of high school for 11 years was a big step for me. I have a husband and a 3 year old son. I live in N. Manchester, so location was a big factor for me. Also, the school's reputation makes me proud to be a student here. Job placement success is also a huge issue for me. If I am going to get a great education, I want and need to be able to financially assist my family when it's all said and done!

At Manchester College, I found the right place for me. This is the third school I have gone to and I am so glad I chose it. I was tired of being at a huge school where the teachers didn’t care and it was hard to make friends. I also didn’t like the extremely small school setting where everyone there was 20 years older then me.
