Why I decided
to attend MC: |
I applied because it was free, but then I came for a recruit visit. I really liked how small it was and I loved how small the classes were. It just felt like it would be the perfect fit. |
My favorite things
about Manchester: |
Right now, I love making new friends and getting closer with new friends. I also love being a member of the track team. |
| I never
expected: |
Share a room with someone...as an only child I never had to do. I will admit I lucked out and I got a pretty cool roommate even though she goes to bed at like 11:30 every night..ha ha. |
At Manchester
College, I found: |
friends, the expeerience that I had always dreamed college would be....I found ME!!! |

Why I decided
to attend MC: |
I was interested in the Peace Studies program, as well as the community of Church of the Brethren students. |
My favorite things
about Manchester: |
I love the genuine attention of professors. They are really interested in helping me reach my potential as a student and a person. |
| I never
expected: |
I received a Plowshares Grant to travel to one of my favorite places in the world – Alaska! Who would have thought I could get money to do something like that?! |
At Manchester
College, I found: |
At Manchester College, I found support, creativity, and passion. [I found a supportive community of friends and professors, a place to explore my creativity, and a place to pursue my passion for peace and justice.] |

Why I decided
to attend MC: |
I connected with the commitments of the mission statement: I
want to be a person engaged in faith, service, and learning.
|
My favorite things
about Manchester: |
Faculty members who encourage you as a person, as well
as a student. |
| I never
expected: |
I never expected to connect my values, my studies, my
spirituality, and my daily life. I can express all these important
parts of me here at Manchester College.
|
At Manchester
College, I found: |
At Manchester College, I found space. Space to grow and explore and claim thoughts for my own. College is a completely new environment
where you're no longer formed by the ideas of your family, your school,
your town. You find space to express yourself, to learn, to try out, to
think through. You find out who you really are and what you really
think and feel. Having space sounds scary, and sometimes it is, but you
make it through with the supportive community Manchester offers.
Manchester College doesn't stifle me, doesn't abandon me...just gives me
space. And that's just what I need.

My favorite things

I really like the peace week activities and the drag show. |

Why I decided
to attend MC: |
I have been dreaming about going to Manchester since I was really, really young. Both of my parents attended here and all they could do was rave about it. Also, the size appealed to me in a very personal way. I loved the small class sizes and small communities that I could so easily see myself becoming a part of. |
My favorite things
about Manchester: |
I love the relationships with students and professors. It's really an amazingly accepting feeling to walk along campus and have a lot of people know you, and wave, or pass a professor and for them to call you by your first name. |
| I never
expected: |
I never expected to live on my own so well. I thought that I would lean on my friends and close family heavily, but I haven't. I have become so independent, and I love it. I still need people, but not in the ways that I would have thought. |
At Manchester
College, I found: |

Travel to Spain and France. It was a eye opening experience for me to be placed in a culture so far away and different!
|
At Manchester
College, I found: |
a place to learn, be who I am, and transform into who I will become. I never expected to change the opinions and ideas that I'd held throughout high school, but here I learned about the real issues, and I feel that I have a better idea of the reality of our world. |

| I never

to live in a Dorm. Participated in a Drag show. I was in my first semester here and I was asked by some good friends if i would do an act. I said sure, sounds like fun. I ended up going all out, I had my hair curled a full dress on, gorgeous by the way, it was yellowish gold and make-up. People that i had become friends with didnt even know who the "girl" in gold was. But they thought she was gorgeous and totally surprised to find ot it was me. it was really funny to have people not even recognize me. All this as a striaght man. |

At Manchester

Community. I found a support system that made Manchester a home away from home. It was exactly what I needed in a college. I was so scared that I wouldn't be able to make friends at school, but I made some of the best friends I've ever had. Also, the professors have helped put some of my academic fears to rest by being encouraging and supportive. |

My favorite things
about Manchester: |
