My favorite things about Manchester:	The connection with the teachers, the cross country team, and the number of friends I have made.
I never expected:	I never expected to run cross country at the collegiate level.
At Manchester College, I found:	At Manchester College, I found acceptance. When I arrived at Manchester I did not feel like I fit in with everyone by being an out of state student, but as the year progressed I found that everyone accepted me and I was able to make many friends.

Why I decided to attend MC:	I chose to attend MC because of the size and closeness to home. What I didn't realize was that the acceptance rate into med school was a really high percentage, so that became a major reason why I chose here.
My favorite things about Manchester:	I love the professors. They are willing to work with you and help you with whatever you need. They actually care about what is going on in your life and I love that about them.
I never expected:	I study. A lot. I never had to study in high school, and college was a big change for me.

Why I decided to attend MC:	Even though I graduated from Manchester High School, the community of North Manchester was too nice to move away from. Manchester also has an exceptional Education department and the professors in my area demand and expect my best and in return, they give me theirs.
My favorite things about Manchester:	Everything. Professors go to your sporting events and congratulate you on victories and console you on losses. You are not a number to them, you are a name, an individual, a person who will someday be successful. Also knowing most of the students on campus and befriending people from not only different states, but also different countries.
I never expected:	With Exercise and Sport Sciences in the Health and Physical Education department I teach home schooled kids on Thursday afternoons and get first hand teaching experience for two years before I even go into student teaching. Just recently I worked with two staff members here at the college for my class, Advanced Exercise Prescription and Fitness Assessment for my Fitness degree, and was their personal trainer for 8 weeks.
At Manchester College, I found:	Comfort. It is ok to be who you are and not to hold back what you want. My comfort zone has grown significantly since I have been here, because I can be at ease with myself for who I am! Professors encourage it, friends love it, and Manchester wants it.

Why I decided to attend MC:	The science department is great and the history of the Spartan baseball program.
My favorite things about Manchester:	The baseball program and the great friends that I have made at Manchester.
I never expected:	Being a starter on the baseball team as a Freshmen.
At Manchester College, I found:	academics, friendship, and baseball. I found a place where I can get great help with academics. I have found a lot of great freindships. Lastly, I have found a great place to play the wonderful game of baseball.

Why I decided to attend MC:	I loved how small and close by the school was. It's really just a comfortable atmosphere when you come here, you feel like you're home.
My favorite things about Manchester:	How close everyone seems to be, you end up knowing everyone on campus without even trying.
I never expected:	I attended the 'Coming Out Vigil' during Gay Pride Week. It was definitely a new experience.

Why I decided to attend MC:	I originally attended Ball State University. It was a pretty good school, but it was too big for me. I grew up in North Manchester and I’m affiliated with the church of the brethren. I like this small town a lot!
My favorite things about Manchester:	The one-on-one from teachers to students.
I never expected:	? I never thought that I would enjoy a biology class as much as I do.
At Manchester College, I found:	I am able to be close to my family, close to the church I attend and receive an awesome education...with very little stress :)

Why I decided to attend MC:	I chose Manchester College because of its connections to the Church of the Brethren, in which I grew up, and because of a diverse and fun community of people and a great environment.
My favorite things about Manchester:	I think most of all I love the people. I have a great group of friends that I get to see a lot because we're a fairly small school, but there are always great new people to meet, too. That includes professors, who are often interested in getting to know students on a personal level and genuinely care about us. I also like chapel services, trees, and significant moments, all of which are abundant here at MC.
I never expected:	I never expected to find a place that felt so much like home. I don't mean home like Goshen, IN, but home as in a place where I feel I truly belong.
At Manchester College, I found:	the world. At Manchester I found an open door to a life much broader and more exciting than anything I experienced back at home, and I've loved every minute of it.

At Manchester College, I found:	At Manchester College, I found a humble abode: Manchester College is one of those places that you look at and end up marveling at the sheer beauty on display. But in order for you to experience this beauty, in all its magnificence, you have to look deeper than just the buildings or the grass and trees or even the squirrels running about collecting nuts…..You have to look at the people that make up Manchester College. From the faculty and staff to the students in general, everyone is so welcoming and inviting. It’s almost as if they want you to walk over to them and ask them for help or advice concerning either academics, social life, or even where that science class that you just can’t get to is. This kind of hospitality is rare to find and its one of the many rare beauties that Manchester College has to offer.

Why I decided to attend MC:	I felt really comfortable here. Everyone was so friendly and I love the personal hometown feel.
My favorite things about Manchester:	There are so many opportunities to be connected with other students and faculty. I am so glad that I can meet with my professors outside of class for instructional help or just a friendly conversation. The professors know who you are and recognize you even after you have left their class.
I never expected:	I have learned about art and music. It was never really something I was interested in before, but because of the class requirements for experiencing the arts, I have found something that I really enjoy.
At Manchester College, I found:	I found friendliness: Not only have I made friends with so many other students, but with adults too. I enjoy talking to past professors Dr. Benjamin and Julie Garber, Patty and Lou in Chartwells, and I always wave at Carl on his lawn mower. I don't think you can find that personal touch and friendliness at very many places.

I never expected:	I never saw myself loving college so much. when i go home i get home sick. I call Manchester College my new home and i think i will never change or go to a different college.

Why I decided to attend MC:	My parents attended college here and I have always wanted to come here. It also has a beautiful campus.
My favorite things about Manchester:	Living in the dorms. I live in Garver and the atmostphere is so open and friendly. I love living on Garver Women's third floor because of the mentality up here. We are a family and we act like it. We fight and argue but at the end of the day we all still love each other.
I never expected:	I never expected to meet such a variety of people. I came from a very small town that is very conservative with a majority white population. Here I am friends with people of different races and beliefs.
At Manchester College, I found:	I found a whole new family. I have made a lot of friends here and we all take care of each other. When one person is sick, others come by and ask if they need anything. Also, we love just hanging out with each other and watching shows and movies together.

Why I decided to attend MC:	It was a gut instinct. When I came for a campus visit, this place just felt like home.
My favorite things about Manchester:	Being on such a small campus, I really feel comfortable and it makes this place feel like a community when people walk by and say hello.
I never expected:	I never expected to have so much fun! I always thought college was just study, study, study, but it's not!
At Manchester College, I found:	Self-esteem. Everyone is so encouraging and welcoming, I just came out of my shell.

Why I decided to attend MC:	When I made my first visit to MC, I loved the campus- it was beautiful and inviting, with a small community feel. The people were also welcoming.
My favorite things about Manchester:	I love the daily interaction between students of different backgrounds. It's great to hear the various stories and details about each person.
I never expected:	I went to Italy with a January session class. That was an amazing experience I will never forget.

I never expected:	I never expected to travel abroad while at Manchester. My first year I studied Spanish in Mexico for Jan term.

My favorite things about Manchester:	My favorite thing about being a student here is getting to know all the staff, especially the lunch crew.
I never expected:	I wouldn't ever have expected to be the webmaster's assistant especially given that a few weeks ago I knew nothing about the web and now I had a big part in compiling this very page. Manchester is a place of opportunity!

My favorite things about Manchester:	Not getting lost on campus, having understanding and helpful professor, and making fun of the food.
I never expected:	I never expected to run a 10 K on the track and live to tell about it.
At Manchester College, I found:	I found myself. College is a place where young people grow into who they are. Through classes, friendships, heartaches, all-nighters, athletics, and the occassional hang-over, we learn what we can accomplish, we grow proud of our strengths, admit our weaknesses, find what we love... and what we don't love, and ultimately become the people we will be the rest of our lives.
