Major: Fitness and Sports Management
Grad Year:

2009

Why I decided
to attend MC:
I wanted an oppurtunity to be away from home but also be close. I wanted to play football, and I also had family that went here.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
There many options here at Manchester College. You can do anything you want to do. Whether it be a major or activities around the campus.
I never expected: Being able to work with people in the community.
At Manchester
College, I found:
Teamwork: Being on the football brought a second family to me. I also got to experiece the coming together of people from all over. We came together as one and became brothers. I learned that we had to come together as one and play as a team. Everyone had to do their job and we all depended on each other.

Why I decided
to attend MC:
When I came to MC for a visit, I had this feeling that this was the right college for me.  It was a small and I liked the fact that it wasn't too close to home.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
All the new people that I have met here at college. I have made some of the greatest friends!  Also, the premed program is hard but good which will benefit me in the long run.
I never expected: become independent from my parents.....I "grew" up in a sense from when I was in highschool
At Manchester
College, I found:
my second family.  I have a good group of friends that I have become close to and they support me in everything that I do. Also, they make me laugh as well! We have tons of fun with no matter what we do and laugh all the time.  It gets me through my homesickness at times and lets me know that there are people here that are always there for me.

Name: Terri Michaelis
Home Town: Rochester, IN
Major: Environmental Studies
Grad Year:

2009

Why I decided
to attend MC:
Small school that provided the opportunity to have low teacher/student ratio, the people were very friendly and helpful when I was trying to figure out how to go about returning to school, Manchester offered me a very good scholarship, and the location.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
This is a hard one, there are numerous things I enjoy here at Manchester:  the supportive professors, the stimulating speakers at convo like Ralph Nader and David Radcliff, the stimulating conversation in my classes, the opportunity to work in research and out in the field, and the challenging courses just to name a few!
I never expected: I never expected to be involved in a research project and make a presentation to the Indiana Academy of Science Annual Meeting, and I never expected to have lunch with Ralph Nader!
At Manchester
College, I found:
At Manchester I found:  Open-mindedness and encouragement.  At first I was quite intimidated by the whole 'higher education' arena, but I soon found that the community at Manchester welcomed the fresh look at different situations, and that rather than just chuckle them off, the majority of the community actually considers the different points of view, even if they are not articulated in the most 'intellectual' manner.  And encouragement, for that moment that every college student faces at some point in their pursuit of a degree when they feel they cannot go on any longer and begin to question why they chose to put themselves through the process of attaining a degree.  Unfailingly those moments have been met with kindness and understanding, as well as a continued nudge in the right direction.

to attend MC:

I decided to attend MC because they gave me the most scholarship money of any of the 6 other schools I applied and was accepted to, I liked their admissions process, the campus was beautiful, and it felt like home here.

My favorite things
about Manchester:

My favorite thing about being an MC student is that I feel like I am a part of something great.  Even though this is a small college, it seems like MC has such a wide reach with great resources at its disposal.  I have also never been looked down upon, just because I am a first-year.  I have been made to feel like my opinion counts.

I never expected:

Something that I have done here at MC that I never expected to be able to do was both sing for money and be in a bell choir.  I was given a scholarship just for singing in the A Cappella choir.  The bell choir is also something that I have always wanted to do, but have never had the chance until I was invited to join here at MC.

At Manchester
College, I found:

At Manchester College, I found … a home.  Here at MC I have found a place where I belong.  People here, not just my Prof.’s but my classmates and the community as well, want me to be successful.  They have just added to my drive to be something “when I grow up.”

At Manchester
College, I found:
At Manchester College, I found a home.  I didn't like my hometown much.  It was boring and nothing was ever going on there.  There's always something to do here, and if not, you can always find a bunch of buddies to hang out with or go to a bigger town to find stuff to do.

Name: Kaleigh Mueller

I also think they have an excellent education program to go along with my major. That was probably my deciding factor between Manchester and other schools.
