At Manchester College, I found _rigourous academics and great friends. The professors assign real world applications of the readings from class.  Our job is to go out and mine data to support what we learn by doing online research, additonal readings, interviews, and writing reports.  Meeting new people also comes with the territory.  I get to hear about the experiences of other people, whether it is academically related or something more social in nature, their stories help me learn something new about others as well as myself.

Name: David Walton
Home Town: Rising Sun, IN
Major: Biology-Chemistry
Grad Year: 2008
Why I decided
to attend MC:
I had a close family member tell me about MC and that I should check it out. After coming to campus to visit over the summer between my junior and senior year of high school I did not want to leave. Then after all the applications and other materials were completed and I was admitted MC admissions did not forget about me they stayed in contact and that personal contact is what made me come to MC in 2004.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
Being challenged everyday with new ideas and the friendliness of campus and its factulty and staff.
I never expected: I have kinda expected most of what had happened. However, I did not expect to be able to travel abroad for a January term with my major being so busy, but as of January of 2007 I will be in London studying with one of MC's professors.
At Manchester
College, I found:
I found friendship and dedication: at Manchester I have obtained so many new friends not only in my major but all over campus. And the science faculties dedication to education is great in the way it keeps me motivated to learn.
Name: Kyle Watson
Home Town: Warsaw, IN
Major: Chemistry
Grad Year: 2010
Why I decided
to attend MC:
I decided to attend MC because I felt like I was already going to be a big part of campus when I came for a visit. The people here were so nice and they made me feel so welcome.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
I love the fact that the classes are so small and that I have gotten to know some of my profs outside of the classroom. It is so cool to go to a basketball game and cheer along with your profs that you had in class earlier that day. I have gotten so close with new friends and have made a new family for my self away from home.
I never expected: I never expected to do undergraduate research as a freshman. I worked with two other students to do a population study and then presented it at the Dean's Symposium. It is something that I would have never done at a larger college or university.
At Manchester
College, I found:
a home away from home. I love it here. I have made so many friendships that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I love my friends and think of them as my family.
Name: Melissa Webb
Home Town: Noblesville, IN
Major: Psychology and Spanish
Grad Year: 2009
Why I decided
to attend MC:
The first time I visited the campus as a prospective student I felt comfortable here.  The campus is beautiful and the people are great.  I loved that my admissions counselor remembered who I was and specific things about me.  I just felt like this could be home.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
I love the small class sizes, the individual attention from the professors, the community in the residence halls, and the overall beautiful campus.  I love how many opportunities I have been presented with since arriving at Manchester.  The staff here is really interested in helping you to learn and grow in any way possible.  If I hadn't come here to Manchester, I would not have lived in a different state all summer with the Pathways Summer Service Program, I wouldn't be going to France in January, or studying in Barcelona all of next year.  Manchester seems to bring the best out in me!
I never expected: I've decided to move further than an hour and a half away from home.  I've discovered who I am and who I want to be.  I lived in a different state all summer working alongside adults with mental illnesses.  I became an officer of a club and have put on a lot of different activities for that club.  I stretched myself and have done more here in just over a year than I did in four years of high school!
At Manchester
College, I found:
I found myself. Since I have been here, I have realized who I am.  I have found my best friends in the entire world, people who will probably be my friends for the rest of my life.  I have found who and what I want to be.  Manchester has opened up so many doors for me and allowed me to take advantage of many opportunities to find myself.
Name: Chris Webster
Home Town: Goshen, IN
Major: Art
Grad Year: 2010
Why I decided
to attend MC:
I chose to come to Manchester college Because i was wanting to travel to other countries and experience other cultures.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
My favorite thing about Manchester College is its diversity there are so many differnt challenges you can undertake. There are so many people that feel differently about different subjects and everyone respects people for there own perspective. Manchester gives you a good mixture of cultures and ideas to find out what you believe in and find out who you are and what direction you want to head in.
I never expected:

One thing that i never expected to do at Manchester was being excited about going to class. In high school it was the same old routine that just gets really old after two weeks. Professors here at manchester can make classes exciting whether its a biology lab where you take a night hike through the forest or just being energetic and enthused in class. Its the professors that have taken the extra step to go beyond the class room that make me excited to come to their class.

At Manchester
College, I found:
At Manchester College, I found a home. Manchester has turned into my home. I was very skeptical at first but ive come to see manchester as my home. Manchester is a place where i feel safe and am not afraid to try new things. It has changed my life forever. Manchester College broke me out of my shell and is challenging me everyday with new ideas and new adventures. There is no other place i could think of that i would like to be than right here at Manchester with all of its diversity and opportunities.

Name: Maggie Winey
Home Town: Mishawaka, IN
Major: Accounting
Grad Year:

2010

Why I decided
to attend MC:
Well, actually my dad started college at Manchester back in I think 1969.  He has always said wonderful things about this place.  My mom used to always give him a hard time about not pressuring me to go to Manchester; she said that where I go to college should be my own choice.  So I decided I'd visit Manchester just once to appease my dad.  I came here and I just knew it was the place for me--it felt right--it felt like home...
My favorite things
about Manchester:
That everyone here is so nice, and so openminded.  I love that people will almost always hold doors open for you, or just do some little common courtesy that people just don't seem to do anymore.
I never expected: Considering I haven't been here too long yet, I haven't done really anything that I didn't expect to do...maybe take another chemistry class.
At Manchester
College, I found:
joy. High school was nothing like I expected it to be, in a bad way, and I couldn't wait to graduate. I can already tell that college will be nothing like that, and it will be incredibly hard to leave Manchester come spring of 2010.
Name: Sarah Yocum
Home Town: Marion, IN
Major: Secondary Education Spanish
Grad Year:

2009

Why I decided
to attend MC:
I decided to attend MC because I enjoyed the smaller size of the university and the small number of students in my classes. I also liked MC's study abroad program and scholarships.
My favorite things
about Manchester:
My favorite thing about being an MC student is that the professors make themselves available to the students. They are so willing to help us. All of my professors tell me to come to their offices whenever I have questions. I'm not a number; I'm a name at MC.
I never expected:

I never expected to get to study abroad. I just finished a year in Barcelona, Spain, and it was truly a life-changing experience.

At Manchester
College, I found:
the world! Manchester College has not only allowed me to study abroad for my major, but also has allowed me to grow as a person. My experience has been absolutely amazing! Every day I soaked in the Spanish culture while learning at the University of Barcelona.

At Manchester
College, I found:
love and frienship.
Name: Martin Yohn
