2012 Alumni Days are May 30-31, with
age-old memories and new views of Manchester
The Class of 1962 will be the first “students” to check out Manchester College’s newest digs: the Academic Center and Welcome Center.
More than 120 alumni gather Wednesday and Thursday, May 30-31 for Alumni Days on the North Manchester campus. Tailored for the more-seasoned alumni, the event includes lodging in residence hall suites and a schedule filled with receptions, memorials, great food, class photos and even a lecture or two.
In addition to the 50-year, two-day reunion for 1962 graduates, reunions are scheduled for 1942, 1947, 1952 and 1957 graduates.
All get to tour the $9 million Academic Center and Welcome Center, with new classrooms, laboratories, study areas and faculty offices and inviting spaces for prospective students and their families. Alumni Days visitors also get an insider’s report on Manchester’s new campus and School of Pharmacy in north Fort Wayne, where classes begin in mid-August.
Returning alumni will hear a Chime concert, pose for class photos, attend a remembrance service, honor outstanding classmates, tour the campus and dip into an ice cream social. Of course, the Archives and Campus Store await them.
Those 50-year alumni who arrive early have a reception and dinner at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, in the Main View restaurant in downtown North Manchester. Registration for the Class of 1962 begins at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30 in The Union. Registration for other classes and returning alumni is 4-5 p.m. Wednesday in Oakwood Hall and 9:45 a.m. Thursday in Wine Recital Hall.
The Alumni Honor Awards begin with a reception at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at Tall Oaks, the president’s residence, with the banquet and celebration at 5:30 p.m. in The Union.
