Strike
up the band and strike that match:
It’s
time for some fireworks!
(2007) North Manchester will ring
in freedom on Tuesday, July 3 with spectacular fireworks, the melodies
of a community band, and the sizzle of hot dogs. And, for the first time, North Manchester students will perform patriotic readings during the concert.
Manchester
College, for the sixth consecutive year, is
hosting a Fourth of July Celebration on its athletic fields. What do you
need to bring? Just a lawn chair or blanket. The party is completely
underwritten by the College, the North Manchester Fire Department and
Chamber of Commerce.
Expect an 8 p.m. prelude
concert by the Manchester Civic Band, directed by Reggie Smith. At 10
p.m., North Manchester firefighters will set ablaze a full show of fireworks.
Reading patriotic passages, poetry and documents: Bryce Pyrah of Manchester Junior High School, Kaytlyn Eberly of Manchester High School, and Manchester College readers Jeffrey Combs of Wabash and Tiffany Berkebile of Walkerton.
The North Manchester Rotary will
serve up $1 hot dogs, drinks and popcorn, and will donate the proceeds
to its North Manchester programs and scholarships.
Come enjoy the show and the
community spirit for this popular home town celebration.
Dare it pour, the party
moves to Wednesday, July 4 – same time, same place, behind the Physical
Education and Recreation Center on the east side of campus.
