Manchester College African-American celebration features music and culture

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (Feb. 23, 2004) - "Heart of the Beat: A Celebration of Culture through Music" is the theme of the annual black history month celebration of Manchester College's Black Student Union.

Jazz saxophone artist Ty Causey is the featured guest for the 7 p.m. celebration on Thursday, Feb. 26 in Wampler Auditorium. Admission is free.

The Black Student Union plans to present a timeline of some important aspects of African-American music and culture, said LaKesha C. Lee, assistant to the director of multicultural affairs at the college. Various musical performances are scheduled and the history of African-American song will be discussed at the celebration.

Ty Causey, a native of Fort Wayne, has just released his first solo CD, N-Tysing.
