14 MC students enter national

language honor society

(May 2008) Manchester College’s Nu Gamma chapter grew by 14 students with an initiation ceremony May 4.

The largest national collegiate language honor society for undergraduates, Alpha Mu Gamma recognizes exemplary performance in language and the overall academic achievement, encouraging interest in foreign languages, literatures, cultures and civilizations.

Manchester’s 2008 initiates included May graduates Caitlin Haynes, sociology major from Glen Arm, Md., and Amanda Patch, biology-chemistry major from Otterbein, Ind.

Juniors inducted: Jennifer Moore, communication studies major from Beech Grove, Ind.; Tedra Tague, Spanish major from New Market, Ind.; Stephanie Taylor, management major from Greenwood, Ind., and Sarah Yocum, Spanish education major from Marion, Ind.

Sophomores: Tiffany Berkebile, communication studies major from Walkerton, Ind.; Hannah Doenges, English major from Fort Wayne; Lisa Ewing, Spanish major from Ossian, Ind.; Kelly Fogle, Spanish major from Fort Wayne; Elizabeth Mishler, biology-chemistry major from Phoenix, Ariz.; Linsey Shannon, English education major from Churubusco, Ind., and Bryan Smethers, finance major from Columbia City, Ind.

First-year students: Erin Cole, biology-chemistry major from Mooresville, Ind.

Faculty advisors are Janina P. Traxler, professor of French, and Lynne F. Margolies, associate professor of Spanish.
