Commencement on May 20 focuses
on graduates – current and past
Manchester College will confer 202 degrees and honor two members of its
Board of Trustees at commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 20.
It is expected that 199 students will receive Bachelor of Science or
Bachelor of Arts degrees and three will receive Associate’s degrees,
said Registrar Lila D. Hammer. The College offers more than 50 areas of
study.
Baccalaureate begins at 11 a.m., in
Cordier Auditorium; Commencement begins at 2:30 p.m. in the Physical
Education and Recreation Center (PERC).
The College will give tribute to two board members at commencement: a 1966
accounting grad and a 1964 business administration: Sam Gunnerson ’64 of
Goodyear, Ariz., who is serving a fourth term on the board, and William
Harper ’66 of Cassopolis, Mich., and Scottsdale, Ariz., former chair of
the board and The Next Step! fund-raising campaign.
Gunnerson will deliver remarks to the graduates.
Four graduating seniors will speak at baccalaureate, with prayer,
scripture readings, or reflections on their time at Manchester: Riyanka
Subrahmanyam of Bahrain, Erin V. Bowers of Fort Wayne, Nickolas S.
Simmons of Bristol, Ind., and Joseph A. Hoover or Noblesville, Ind. The
A Cappella Choir will perform, and then embark on a concert tour that
will culminate with a performance the following Saturday night at
Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Other commencement participants include the College Symphonic Band,
chime playing by first-year student Casey E. Lambert, the class response
by Taylor F. Vice of Fremont, Ind., and benediction by senior Jesse J.
Reid of Richmond, Ind. |
