Manchester College awards 245
degrees
in spring commencement ceremonies
NORTH MANCHESTER,
Ind. – Manchester College awarded 229 bachelor’s degrees and 16
master’s degrees at commencement ceremonies May 23 on campus. The
graduates included the first three recipients of the northeast Indiana
college’s new Master of Arts in Contemporary Leadership program.
The Class of 2004
also received 13 master of accountancy degrees and six associate
degrees.
Six members of the
College’s baseball team received their diplomas the following weekend
in a special ceremony at the NCAA Division III World Series in
Wisconsin. The Spartans were winning the Regional championship in Ohio
(and thus advancing to the NCAA national championships) when their
fellow grads were crossing the commencement stage on May 23.
The college also presented 1962 alumnus Robert C.
Johansen with an honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. The
widely published expert on international ethics and global governance
currently is researching United Nations peacekeeping and enforcement
for the University of Notre Dame.
Manchester, with
1,170 students from 29 states and 33 countries, is an independent
liberal arts college of the Church of the Brethren. Typically, more
than 95 percent of its alumni secure jobs, full-time volunteer
positions or graduate study within six months of graduation. For more
