Two members of the Board of Trustees
continue service with honorary status
Two long-time members and former chairs of the Board
of Trustees are returning to serve Manchester College as honorary
members.
The board has granted honorary status to J. Bentley
Peters of Elgin, Ill., and William N. Harper of Scottsdale, Ariz.
(formerly of Cassopolis, Mich.) Both will serve in an ongoing advisory
role, and are invited to participate in board meetings and discussions
in a non-voting capacity.
“Honorary trustees are a wonderful resource for the
Board because they bring the wisdom of experience to discussions and
issues,” said President Jo Young Switzer. “By their service, they made
the College stronger, and will continue to strengthen the College.”
Peters, a 1962 religion and philosophy graduate of
the College, has served both as a trustee-at-large and as the
Illinois/Wisconsin District representative for the
Church of the Brethren.
(Manchester is a college of the denomination.) A retired senior vice
president of Mutual Aid Exchange, Peters owns a consulting company.
Harper, a 1966 economics and business administration
graduate, chaired a $70 million fund drive for the College that
concluded a year early and more than $20 million over goal. He is
retired as a chief finance officer for National Steel Corp. and as a
vice president and controller for Clark Equipment Co.
