Instrumental chamber, jazz music
at Manchester College
on Friday
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (Dec. 1, 2003) - Manchester
College is offering "An Evening of Chamber Music and Jazz" on Friday, Dec.
5.
The performance includes the 13-member Manchester
College Jazz Ensemble and separate small-instrument and a trumpet
selections, all conducted by R. Scott Tomlison, assistant professor of music and
director of Manchester College bands. Tickets are $3 at the door for the
7:30 p.m. performance in Cordier Auditorium on campus.
The Jazz Ensemble's program includes Birth of Blues
by Sammy Nestico, Georgia on My Mind by Hoagy Carmichael (Mark Taylor
arrangement), Big Mama Cass by Andy Clark and La Playa by Doug
Beach.
Small instrument programs include duets by sophomore
Rachel Schoon of Lake Village, Ind., on baritone saxophone and junior Amy L.
Eager of Harlan, Ind., on bassoon. Also a trio of junior Raymond F.
Hart of Dupont., Ind., Andrew A. Kauffman of Nappanee, Ind., and Conductor R. Scott Tomlison will perform several selections
on trumpet.
Jazz Ensemble members include:
Saxophone: first-year students Ashley J.
McCormick of Greens Fork, Ind.; Brittany N. Cook of Tippecanoe, Ind. and
Tyler W. Morris of North Manchester, Ind.; and junior Andrew S. Harding of
Bloomington, Ind.
Trombone: first-year students Andrew F. Suhre of
Michigantown, Ind., and Patrick N. Bradley of North Manchester, Ind.
Trumpet: Raymond F. Hart, and first-year
students Matthew D. Martin and Carrie B. Fry-Miller, both of Fort Wayne,
Ind.
Rhythm: junior Michael Rob Dymond of Chelsea,
Mich.; sophomore Tyler M. Secor of Warsaw, Ind., and first-year student
Kevin P. Phelps of Brookston, Ind.
