Ahhhhh! Jazz, from Ellington to
Brubeck,
and sax guest on Jazz Band’s April 27
program
Classic standards – from Duke Ellington’s I Got It Bad to the
fast-paced Blue Rondo a la Turk of Dave Brubeck – are on the
Manchester College Jazz Band program for Thursday, April 27. The free
program in Wine Recital Hall begins at 7:30 p.m.
Guest artist Paul Kober of Chicago will add his alto and tenor sax
talents to the mix, for On Green Dolphin Street,
Mangione’s Land of Make Believe, Route 66, Boogie
Woogie Bugle Boy, The Girl From Ipanema and Desmond's Take
Five.
“This concert has something in it for just about every age group and
it's all jazz,” says Jazz Band Director Tj Faur.
Kober, of Chicago, plays tenor sax on the albums Play It Again, Sammy
and Jazz Alive with Bill O’Connell’s Chicago Skyliners Big Band.
