MC Jazz Band, Symphonic Band
unite for concert
in Cordier on Friday, Nov. 18
Basin Street Blues, Amazing Grace, Theme from Schindler’s List, Maple
Leaf Rag – Manchester College has it all Friday night in a concert
shared by the Jazz Band and the Manchester Symphonic Band. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. in Cordier Auditorium.
Tickets are $3 at the door; reservations are not necessary.
The Symphonic Band program includes Danse Bacchanale by Camille
Saint-Saens (arr. Bocook), Salvation is Created by Pavel
Tchesnokov (arr. Houseknecht), Amazing Grace by Folk (arr. William
Hines) and music from the Incredibles by Michael Giacchino (arr.
Bocook). Tammy Ulman has a clarinet solo in Theme from Schindler’s
List by John Williams (arr. Custer). Director of the Manchester
Symphonic is Suzanne Gindin, assistant professor of music.
On the program for the Jazz Ensemble is
720 in the Books by Jan Savitt and Johnny Watson (arr. Mason), A
Night in Tunisia by Dizzy Gillespie (arr. Nestico), Basin Street
Blues by Spencer Williams (arr. Howard), Chattanooga Choo Choo
by Harry Warren (arr. Mason), Livery Stable Blues by Ray Lopez
and Yellow Nunez (arr. Paramor) and Maple Leaf Rag by Scott
Joplin (arr. Howard).
Members of the Jazz Ensemble are: alto sax,
Abby Harper; tenor sax, Adam Pyle; bari sax, Jon Largent; trumpet, Jason
Lucker; trumpet/conductor, T.J. Faur; trombone, Tom Airgood; guitar,
